The last time we saw Ben Simmons was during the final 4 minutes in the 2021 NBA playoffs Game 7 against the Atlanta Hawks when he passed up a wide-open dunk.

The endless saga of Ben Simmons will continue if he chooses to play and not be fashionable on the sidelines. Simmons has been the most talked-about star in recent memory ever since his infamous he passed up a wide-open dunk in the 2021 NBA playoffs Game 7 against the Atlanta Hawks.

Ever since then, Simmons didn’t trust his former coach, Doc Rivers, his former teammate, Joel Embiid, and the franchise. Despite their actions towards him, Simmons wanted out of Philadelphia and declared a trade to any team. Simmons even went far and missed training camps just to be away from the franchise.

To stop the fines, Simmons told team officials that he had ‘mental health issues. Soon after, the fines resumed due to Simmons’ lack of missed games and practices. Doc Rivers forced Ben to participate in drills, but he looked disinterested the entire time. At the end of 2021, according to NBA reporters, the fines accumulated up to a whopping $22 million, which made Ben the most fined player in NBA history.

After all of those actions, Simmons quit his team and recoup millions of dollars he doesn’t owe.

During the last days of the trade deadline, Philadelphia finally traded their disgruntled star in Ben Simmons, along with Seth Curry, Andre Drummond, and 2 1st-round picks for James Harden and Paul Millsap.

The Ben Simmons saga

Simply put, Ben Simmons is the worst teammate in sports.

All he does is recoup millions of dollars for practices, appearances, and looking like a pretty boy. Stephen A. Smith was right about him after all. The irony of it all is him not wanting to help his team fight off the Boston Celtics when it mattered most. As a result, the Nets got swept and took the life out of both Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.

As for Simmons, he has a lot of work to do for him to be available for his team. I am not going to let Kyrie off the hook either and his topic is for another day. In order for Ben Simmons to redeem himself out of this saga, he needs to be the guy who is willing to do whatever it takes to win, even if it playing for 5–10 minutes. That alone would have helped the Brooklyn win at least 1 game.

However, the will to fight was never there in the first place. Simmons needs to look at himself in the mirror and see what trouble he has caused since he arrived in Brooklyn.

The Brooklyn Nets got swept 4–0 in 1st round by Boston Celtics

Now that the Nets’ season is over, the question remains, will Ben Simmons get a max contract or a 1-year deal? At this point, due to his inability to be available for his team, he doesn’t deserve a max deal. Until Simmons proves that he plays at a high level every game with no excuses, then we can talk about it. We need to see what type of Ben Simmons will appear for right now.

Overall, Ben Simmons brought this saga on himself and it affected the NBA community at large. Who would risk everything you worked for and not play a single game for a franchise that drafted you after a playoff game fallout? That is Ben Simmons.

Will we see Ben Simmons who enjoys sitting on the sidelines with his fashionable clothing, or will he work his ass off and prove his worth on the court?

Only time will tell.

Until then, let the Ben Simmons saga continue.
