Game 7

Hawks: 103

76ers: 96

Would you look at this.

The Atlanta Hawks have taken down the number 1 team in the Eastern Conference and are moving on to the conference finals. If I went back to February and told any NBA analyst that the Hawks are going to be 4 wins away from the Finals, they’d think I’m crazy. But here we are. The Hawks are FOUR wins away from the NBA FINALS.

This is crazy. What a series, and what an effort from these guys. Being a Hawks fan, this is something I’ve been waiting for for a long time. I’ve seen the talent of this team forming for a few years now, and the pieces are coming together when it matters the most.

Let’s talk about Game 7.

We were on the road, the Sixers had just come off of a win, and all signs were pointing towards a win to knock us out of the way. Not on our watch. From the jump Trae couldn’t make a shot. He went a total of 5/21 on FG’s but he’s the kind of player that doesn’t necessarily need to score in order to make a game changing impact. He has that IT factor that just brings the momentum and energy in our favor. Kevin Huerter was on fire all night. He was playing with the confidence that players have to play with if they want to win game 7’s like last night. Just a huge night for him. John Collins, Danilo Gallinari, Lou Will, all these guys just came up huge for us. This postseason for the Hawks has shown how complete this team is and it’s amazing to watch. Something really important to take from this series is the fact that we were able to play 7 COMPLETE games with no burnout whatsoever. We’re a young team with confidence, grit, and a whole lot of talent, so you can put us up against the leagues best and these guys will go into every game believing that they can win. Nothing is more satisfying than seeing the derp faces of the 76ers when it hit them that they were going home for the summer. Maybe Steph Curry will teach his lil bro how to shave his face, because whatever Seth is doing just isn’t working. Maybe Steph could give Ben Simmons a tip or two on how to shoot the ball. Clearly ol Doc isn’t helping very much with that. Maybe Steph can just take over and coach these guys.

Im rambling…but this is so good man.

Also, Im tired of people saying “The Sixers blew this one” and “Philly gives up game 7 to the Hawks”. What else do we have to do to prove to people that the Hawks are legit and we’re just winning these games? Idk but I do know that we’re going to continue to prove people wrong. Not many people even had us beating the Knicks in the first round. I think the Hawks play even better when they know they’re the underdogs.

So…

On to the next one. We’ve got 2 days to rest and prepare and then we’re back in action for game 1 of the Eastern Confrence Finals agains the Milwaukee Bucks. Here we go.

I’ve been saying it from the very start: This Hawks team is going to continue to surprise people. We’ve proved we can win in the toughest environments against some of the best players in the league, so why not do it again? At this point, I wouldn’t bet against the Hawks no matter who they’re playing.

I’ll admit, this one is going to be a little more difficult. I know Philly was the number one seed but in my opinion the Bucks are a better overall team. We were able to tame Joel Embid so I know we can do the same with the Giannis but it’s gonna be harder. Giannis is faster and more consistent, but Clint Capella is more built to guard Giannis. I’m not a coach by any means but I just think if we go at it and adjust quickly we’re gonna be just fine. We’re younger, quicker, faster, and we have that chip on our shoulders that we thrive off of. The more I think about it, the more confidence I have in the Hawks. We’ve come this far, why not prove everyone wrong. Why not win 4 more games and go to the finals?

Sheesh, I’m hype about this one. I’ve never been able to watch the Hawks play this deep into the summer so I’m happy to be here. Wednesday couldn’t get here soon enough. I love playoff basketball. I love the Hawks. I love you. Yes, you reading this.

alright…Go Hawks.
