Naughty or Nice? (AFC Week 17)
Last week, the American Football Conference could have seen literally all of their storylines settled. All seven spots clinched, all four divisions clinched, even the #1 seed could have been wrapped up. Thankfully, that did not happen. If it had, we would have seen a lot of games in the final two weeks mean very little to nothing. Instead, we still have just a few things that need to be handled in Week 17, the penultimate week of the season, which starts on Christmas Day and is followed by the final countdown to the New Year. At least one NFL game played for five of the next six days! Let's go!

NFL Week 16 Recap: Win and In
As a Green Bay Packers fan, I'm not used to anything coming this easy. So excuse me if I'm a bit extra cheeky, or cheesy. It's always beautiful to control your own destiny. It's even more beautiful when it happens in such a fashion that it makes a cakewalk look like climbing Mount Everest. All we had to do was show up. That's it. I knew we'd easily beat the New Orleans Saints, but my goodness, I didn't expect this mess. This game was the 240th of the 2024 regular season. It was the first to end in a shutout. 34-0 was the final score. No worrying about what the defense would do, no worrying about plays that could have been better, no fear that this was a trap game and we could be playing down to our competition. Hell, I think if we had played down to our competition, the worst we could have done was probably win 17-0.

I do love Saturday football; I have since I was a kid. We don't get NFL games on Saturday until nearly the end of the season, and that's because it's by that time that college football is out of the way. I remember at one point, we would see four straight weeks of Saturday football, counting playoffs, but this year, we are being treated to five straight Saturdays of NFL action--the final three weeks of the regular season, Super Wild Card Weekend, and the Divisional Playoff.

We are now entering the final three weeks of the 2024 NFL season, and it's wild. It's always very wild during Week 16, which is normally a Christmas week, but the calendar's makeup has allowed the NFL to kick off Week 17 on Christmas Day, so Week 17 will be a Christmas/Countdown to New Year's week, while the impending Week 16 will serve as an early Countdown to the Holidays. Because of what's happening regarding the scenarios for this week, I have to separate this by conference, because the American Football Conference could have everything settled by the end of the week.
