Miami's Amy Deem and the ACC winning 1,600-meter relay team.

After a strong high school career where she won an Adidas national title and multiple state championships in Pennsylvania, Sanaa Hebron found herself in a spot she has worked her whole career to perform.

The 18-year-old freshman at University of Miami ran the final leg of the 1,600-meter relay at the ACC indoor championship meet 0n Feb. 25, in Louisville, Kentucky.

"I think this is really big because I've been working to be an [NCAA] Division I athlete a very long time," Hebron said. "Just to come out here and to show that I'm capable is a very nice feeling, so I'm excited and very accomplished."

Hebron ran the final leg against Duke's Megan McGinnis, who had recently won the open 400 meters, upsetting Miami's defending champ Moriah Oliveira who placed third. Down the stretch Hebron ignited the crowd as she valiantly closed the gap between herself and McGinnis as the race was coming to a close.

As Hebron surged forward, McGinnis' hand appeared to connect with Hebron's causing the Duke sprinter to lose the baton, which cost her team the race. Miami's foursome of Kennedy Bracey, Oliveira, Blanca Hervas and Hebron took the championship at 3:32.56.
