Recap of Track & Field in 2022

As the college track and field season has come to a close, we will take time to take a look at women in the sport who competed and made things happen in 2022.

Emma Söderström - Wake Forest

Swedish high jumper Emma Söderström of Wake Forest earned All-American Honorable Mention this year. She holds both indoor (1.82) and outdoor (1.84) records in the high jump for Wake Forest. Söderström broke the school outdoor record at the East Preliminary, which allowed her to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. She won a bronze medal at the ACC Indoo Track & Field Championships with a mark of 1.78. Prior to this season Söderström competed at the University of Gothenburg, a school located in her native country of Sweden.

Nazah Reddick - North Carolina A&T

After several near misses North Carolina A&T's Nazah Reddick became a conference champion in 2022. Reddick of Jacksonville, Florida, won the Big South Outdoor Championship high jump event with a mark of 1.78. Reddick jumped a career best 1.81 at the East Preliminary to close her season. Throughout the years, Reddick has collected numerous high jump medals. She won the silver medal at the Big South indoor meet. Last season while North Carolina A&T was still in the MEAC, Reddick took the bronze medal at the outdoor conference meet as she did in 2019. In 2019 Reddick earned a silver medal at the MEAC indoor meet as well as the 2018 indoor and outdoor conference championships.

Sarah Hendrick - Kennesaw State

For the past two seasons Sarah Hendrick of Kennesaw State has become one of the top 800 meters competitors in the NCAA. Representing her hometown of Kennesaw, Georgia, she placed fifth at this year's NCAA championships in the 800 meters during outdoor season for the second straight year. Prior to the NCAA meet, Hendrick earned first place finishes in the 800 meters and 1,500 meters at the ASUN Outdoor Track & Field Championships. During indoor season she won the ASUN titles in the 400 meters and mile events. Hendrick placed eight in the 800 meters at the NCAA indoor final, another finish that she duplicated from the 2021 season.

Scout Regular - Northern Illinois

St. Louis, Missouri native Scout Regular has had a strong first two seasons at Northern Illinois. She raised eyebrows at the 2021 Mid-American Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships. She earned her first of many two silver medals in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.63. In 2022 Regular repeated as a silver medalist at the conference championships in the 60-meter hurdles, this time at 8.37. The young hurdler earned a third silver medal in the 100-meter hurdles at the Mid-American Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a career best time of 13.64.

Kennedy Marable - Cincinnati

Kennedy Marable left Cincinnati as one of the finer triple jumpers in the history of the program. This year she won her first championship when she jumped 13.12 to win the triple jump at the American Athletic Conference outdoor meet. During the indoor season she earned the silver medal in the same event. Marable won her first conference medal in 2020 as she took third in the triple jump at the American Athletic Indoor Track & Field Championships. In 2021, the Toledo, Ohio native won the silver medal in the triple jump at the outdoor conference meet. Marable qualified for the NCAA East Preliminary in 2019, 2021 and 2022.
