Ranking Russell Wilson's Possible Trade Destinations

Will Seattle really trade it's GOAT during his prime just because he showcased a little bit of Frustration? Probably not, but if so here are those possible destinations ranked by how much success they would have with him at the helm.

I really cant picture Russell Wilson in a different uniform other than the Seattle Seahawks. Ask any football fan over the last 10 years what player they think of when asked about the Seahawks and I think at least 80% of them will tell you Russell Wilson. He has helped lead them to 9 straight winning seasons including 2 super bowl appearances and 1 win. As great as they have been together, recently Russ has expressed frustration and has made it clear that he is open to being traded if the Seahawks want to move on from him. Reports came out in February about the 4 teams that he would prefer to go to if he does somehow end up getting traded. A new report came out this morning, March 5th, that Seattle wont be shopping him around but will take calls from opposing teams regarding Wilsons availability. Th rumored 4 teams that Wilson would like to play for if traded is as follows: Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bears, New Orleans Saints, Las Vegas Raiders. Below I am going to rank those teams based off how Successful it would be.

1. New Orleans Saints

If Russell Wilson gets traded to the Saints they would no doubt have one of the most explosive offenses in football. Russell Wilsons main issue is that he has been getting hit an unbelievable amount over his time with the Seahawks. He has been sacked 394 times over his 9 seasons there. That is on average almost 44 times per year, that's the most ever per season for a quarterback to be sacked since 1970. He would be much more comfortable being protected by that Saints O-Line with all-pro Ryan Ramczyk at right tackle and Terron Armstead on the other side protecting his left side. Russ will also get the best weapons of his career to be giving the ball to. An Offense with Russell Wilson throwing to Michael Thomas and then having the all-time dual threat running back in Alvin Kamara there with him will be one of the most exciting offenses the NFL has put on turf. He will also have a top defense to be working with. After a strong run game, a lockdown defense is a quarterback's next best friend. This would be his best defense since the iconic Legion of Boom featuring a young Richard Sherman and Earl Thomas from his early Seattle years when they helped him win a super bowl. Also, it will be a treat for us fans to see what Sean Payton can scheme up for an offense with this much skill.

2. Dallas Cowboys

The sports world will turn upside down if Russell Wilson gets traded to the Cowboys. With Russell being one of the medias favorite players and the Cowboys being one of the medias favorite punching bags, the takes on this team are going to be wild. But there is no denying that he would instantly make them the favorite in the pitiful NFC East division. Dallas's offense was on pace to break records last season before Dak Prescott's season ending injury. Now with Dak's contract up in the air and the possibility of him not returning to the Cowboys really gives Russell Wilson to Dallas a chance, not a great chance but a chance nonetheless. The team would pick up where it left off with Dak. A really good offense and a really bad defense. Wilsons best aspect of the game is how well he can throw the deep ball. Only two quarterbacks had more TD passes when throwing the ball 20 or more yards down field (Patrick Mahomes and Aaron Rodgers). Expect that number to go up even more when he has speedsters Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup breezing past opposing cornerbacks, and 2nd year receiver Cee Dee Lamb who just broke Dallas's rookie receptions record. Russ would also get help in the run game with Ezekiel Elliot there in the backfield with him. Zeke is a hardnosed contact runner, he can do the fancy jukes but is at his best when he is bulldozing opposing defenders. Similar to Marshawn Lynch, Russell Wilsons running back during his early days in Seattle that helped win them a super bowl.

3. Las Vegas Raiders

Russell Wilson to the raiders doesn't seem very likely considering the Raiders GM Mike Mayock recently made it public that he fully believes in current quarterback Derek Carr. But if Vegas decides to make a move on from Carr and trade for Wilson I don't think that it would be a bad idea. The raiders have been pretty irrelevant in the NFL for a long time now. Now they are in Vegas and they kind of got catapulted into the spot light a little bit over the last 2 years. They were featured on HBO's Hard Knocks 2 years ago which got them a lot of exposure and currently have one of the largest personalities in football as their head coach, Jon Gruden. Gruden loves Russell Wilson and is known to be a quarterback guru. Gruden and Russ would be a fan favorite duo. Russell Wilson would also get a chance to play with a very young and energetic offense. He would be throwing it deep to Henry Ruggs, who just finished his rookie year showing great flashes although an injury held him out for a good amount of games. Ruggs is a speed demon and looks like he can be on of the great deep threats in the future of the NFL. Raiders also have wide receiver Nelson Agholor. Agholor just came off the best season of his career posting a career high in yards and tied his career high with 8 touchdown catches, those numbers will likely increase if he has Russell Wilson throwing to him instead of Derek Carr. He would also get to share a backfield with young running back Josh Jacobs. Jacobs is the current star of the Raiders offense and is the main focus for defenses when the raiders offense is on the field. Even with him being the main focus he has still been able to eclipse 1000 yards in each of his 1st two seasons. Add Russell Wilson to that offense and take pressure off Jacobs and that offense will really take off. The issue with this team is the defense. There is just no possible way this team can win even if they trade for Wilson as long as there defense is 30th in points. The Offense would be good but not good enough to overcome that.

4. Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears are in a bad spot. They have no quarterback good enough to win games in the NFL currently on their roster. Somehow someway they got into the playoff this past season with an 8-8 record but you can make a case that they are a bottom tier team not a playoff team. They are about to lose their best offensive player, WR Allen Robinson, to a different team on the free agent market. which leaves them with one of the worst offenses in football. Russell Wilson would be thrown into an offense much worse than the Seahawks current situation even though their offensive line is trending up, a QB needs weapons if he wants to succeed in this league. He would have rather stout defense helping him out and an offensive minded coach in Matt Nagy which are definitely two positives. But currently with Allen Robinson projected to leave, their best receiver is Darnell Mooney. He would have a good running back in David Montgomery but if you look at the three other teams that he is considering, Montgomery is clearly the worst RB of the 4.
