The coronavirus is causing us all to rethink how we go about our daily activities. Washing our hands and wearing a mask has become part of everyday life, and working from home has become the norm for many.

Many courses are re-opening, but if we get a second wave, we could be looking at another lockdown, and with flu season just around the corner, the future is uncertain.

Being unable to do the normal things in life can make people anxious and stressed. With everything that’s happening golf seems less important.

However, the benefits of being outside playing golf in the fresh air, and socialising with friends comes with many health benefits.

Physically golf helps your well-being and fitness, while mentally you can destress from the worries of the day.

So, what do you do when the golf course is closed or you don’t want to take risks mixing with other people who may have the virus.

The answer is to recreate the golf course at home!

Walking long distances outside and striking a ball hundreds of yards is how golf is played, yet surprisingly, golf is one of the few sports we can practice at home.

With a driving net, chipping net and putting mat, you can recreate most shots you’d play in a round of golf.

Rolling out the putting mat in the lounge may cause issues with the family, but you can guarantee once you’ve taken a few putts they’ll be lining up behind you to have a go.

You’re not restricted to just putting, with a chipping net, you can practice those delicate shots you would normally play just off the green.

A 300 yard drive, no problem! With a driving net and hitting mat set up in the garden, you can imagine you’re standing on a tee ready to drive one down the fairway.

With all the uncertainty you can keep your game together without the costly trips to the driving range, just set up a net in the garden and roll out the putting mat, and you can practice whenever you’ve got some free time.

Basic golf nets are relatively cheap, and come in all different sizes. You can even choose one with a target, to practice hitting the ball straight down the fairway.

Putting mats vary in size and cost too. A basic mat will come with one hole, while a deluxe model will have an undulating surface and mini hazards to replicate a real putting green.

So, there is no reason to let your game fall apart. Even a beginner can get a a head start by practising at home before going to the course. With everyone seemingly working from home, take those moments away from the home office to keep your game in shape, ready for when you get back onto the golf course.
