Lead us to more buckets, but deliver us from bricks. Amen.

Our Swaggy P in L.A.

Hallowed be thy name.

Your buckets will come,

Your swag will come,

on Earth as it is in Staples.

Give us this day your threes and buckets,

And forgive our unswaggyness,

As we have forgiven those who have no swag.

And lead us to more buckets,

but deliver us from bricks.

Amen.

Nick Young is in this year’s All-Star Weekend Three-Point Contest. Yes, Nick Young is in the Three-Point Contest. Nick Young. Three-Point Contest.

Nick Young is transferring over to Uncle P in the latter half of his career, but that isn’t stopping him from getting buckets this season. He’s averaging 13.9 points this season, which is the fifth highest of his career. He’s shooting 45% from the field with a swaggering 42.5% from beyond the arc.

When I found out Nick Young would be participating in this year’s contest, I was caught slightly off guard, but entirely too excited. I also thought his 3-point shooting wasn’t necessarily good enough for this contest. I looked up his numbers, and it’s safe to say I wasn’t wrong in my assumption. Young has only shot 40%+ from deep throughout a season twice in his career. His career average is 37%, so I was right in assuming he might not belong in the contest.

He won’t be able to steal the ball from teammates to shoot the game-winning shot, but this time, it’s his show — and his show only. It’s how God intended Swaggy P to be. A lone wolf in a pack sport.

Swaggy will have no easy way to this coveted 3-Point Contest trophy. He will have to compete against defending champion Klay Thompson, Kyrie Irving, Eric Gordon, Kemba Walker, Kyle Lowry, Wesley Matthews, and CJ McCollum. Most will likely put money on Thompson, Irving, or Gordon, but find out that you put money on anyone other than Nick Young, I have a present for you.

It’s these hands.

I hope his last shot for the win ends up like this, but I also hope he hits every single shot and blows everyone’s brains out. Either way, it’s a win for me.
