NFL 2026 Review: Arizona Cardinals
Any help will do
The Arizona Cardinals are rebuilding and restarting all over again after going 3-14 last season and firing head coach Jonathan Gannon after he went a woeful 15-36 over the past three seasons. The Cardinals then hired former Los Angeles Rams offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur to be the new head coach.
With renewed optimism, Arizona looks to finally build something that is sustainable for future seasons. Here is a look at who the Cardinals selected in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Round 1, Pick 3: Jeremiyah Love - RB - Notre Dame. 6'0", 212 lbs (199 carries, 1,372 rush yds, 18 rush TD, 6.9 yds per carry, 27 rec, 280 rec yds, 3 rec TD, 10.4 yds per reception).
Cardinals fans will love Jeremiyah Love because he has the capability to make a big play every time he touches the ball. Love has run for over a thousand yards two seasons in a row at almost seven yards a carry. He has the type of game-breaking ability to change a moribund franchise like the Arizona Cardinals. As you will see from the below video, he does not get tackled when he gets into the open field.
Round 2, Pick 2: Chase Bisontis - OG - Texas A&M. 6'5", 315 lbs.
Bisontis started over the past two seasons at guard for the Aggies. His physicality at the line ensures that he will start immediately at left guard or at right guard for Arizona in the fall.
Round 3, Pick 1: Carson Beck - QB - Miami (FL). 6'5", 233 lbs (338 completions, 467 pass attempts, 72.4 completion percentage, 3,813 passing yds, 30 TD, 12 INT, 43 rush yds, 2 rush TD, 1 rec TD).
Beck helped lead the Hurricanes to the College Football Playoff Championship Game after starting the two previous seasons at Georgia. He has the arm strength to make any throw he needs to make on any given play. However, he does tend to throw interceptions at the most inopportune times.
Round 4, Pick 4: Kaleb Proctor - DT - SE Louisiana. 6'2", 291 lbs (18 tackles, 9 sacks).
You can see with Proctor's stats from last season that he only turns it up on the field on passing downs. However, 9 sacks for a defensive tackle is outstanding. He could see some time as a situational pass rusher up the middle during games throughout the season.
Round 5, Pick 3: Reggie Virgil - WR - Texas Tech. 6'3", 187 lbs (57 rec, 705 rec yds, 12.4 yds/rec, 6 TD, 2 rush TD).
Virgil could end up being a red zone target due to his height. He will fit well into the wide receiver rotation, but he went in the fifth round because he will need to add about 25 pounds to his frame.
Round 6, Pick 2: Karson Sharar - LB - Iowa. 6'1", 231 lbs (83 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, 4 sacks).
Sharar will add depth for the Cardinals at inside linebacker. He makes an impact whenever he is on the field with his tackling and with his pass-rushing ability up the middle.
Round 7, Pick 1: Jayden Williams - OT - Ole Miss. 6'4", 320 lbs.
Williams started all four seasons with the Rebels. He will add depth at the offensive tackle position.
Review: For a team that has not made the NFL Playoffs in five seasons, the Cardinals needed help everywhere. These seven picks will help Arizona add depth in the rugged NFL West Division. Adding Love will help immensely by keeping opposing defenses on their heels all game long. Beck could potentially become a starting QB later on this season. Grade: B-.
