New Champions Crowned in Raw's Women's Division

A long overdue championship victory comes to Dana Brooke, and new tag champions are crowned as well

Dana Brooke became the 7th female 24/7 Champion

The fallout from Survivor Series began with Raw, and it was a crazy one. We saw the follow-up from the Cleopatra Egg theft, Austin Theory received a shot at the WWE Championship, and new champions were crowned inside the red brand's women's division. Let's start with the one I am more happy for: the 24/7 Championship.

We received a rare one-on-one 24/7 Championship match between Reggie and former Cruiserweight Champion Cedric Alexander, and by that, I mean that this was competed in the ring, and the 24/7 rules were suspended until the final bell. The result saw Alexander capture the title, but that's when the mayhem started. A series of guys, including Akira Tozawa and R-Truth (the latter having held the 24/7 title about as much--or more--than the New York Yankees have held MLB's Commissioner's Trophy) headed to the ring, but Alexander's escape was thwarted by Dana Brooke, who emerged from the top rope and delivered a neckbreaker, and three seconds later, we have a new 24/7 Champion!

I, among other fans, am fully aware of the immense amount of silliness surrounding the 24/7 Championship, but a title is a title, and I am so happy that Dana Brooke finally has a title to claim as her own. Dana became WWE's seventh female 24/7 Champion, joining a list that began with Kelly Kelly, and later included Candice Michelle, WWE Hall of Famer Alundra Blayze, Carmella, Tamina, and Maria Kanellis. So it's a good crop of legends on that list. Plus I also love seeing women hold championships that are usually held by men, so that's another bonus.

Prior to Dana Brooke's big win, Carmella and Queen Zelina captured the Women's Tag Team Championship from Rhea Ripley and Nikki A.S.H. on Raw. This I saw coming. When I saw that the match was made, I knew Carmella and Zelina were winning this, because they've had this whole thing with Nikki and Rhea ever since they became part of Raw, and it would make absolutely no sense for Nikki and Rhea to retain. This was the first instance of a Queen of the Ring tournament leading to a title, as Zelina also captured her first championship in WWE. For Carmella, she's now 3/4 through an unorthodox Grand Slam, as her first time as Women's Tag Team Champion is added to her reigns as SmackDown Women's Champion and 24/7 Champion, only needing the Raw title to complete that cycle.

Doudrop fulfills her promise by going after Bianca Belair after Survivor Series

I cannot talk about the Survivor Series fallout without mentioning Bianca Belair, who was the sole survivor in the women's elimination match. And by the way, I didn't like how that ended. It was down to Bianca and four SmackDown women, so of course Bianca gets rid of all of them on her own because, once again, Survivor Series was used to bury the blue brand. Anyway, Bianca faced Tamina and defeated her, but she would end up fighting off an attack from Tamina's partner-in-crime, Natalya. Just when Bianca thought her problems were over, the evil Doudrop emerged and attacked Bianca, which was followed by the recently turned villainess standing tall outside the ring with Tamina and Natalya.

It was a week after her heel turn that Doudrop basically promised Bianca that she would go after her after Survivor Series, and she delivered. I still say that now that she's evil, the Doudrop name should be dropped and she should go back to Piper Niven, or maybe another name that fits her villainous character. We were also treated to Becky Lynch's promo and a later confrontation between her and top contender Liv Morgan; honestly, I'm wondering when this match is happening. There will be no more WWE main roster PPVs this year, the next one is Day 1 on New Year's Day 2022, and I can't see them putting Becky vs Liv on that event, because that's a long build. Time will tell regarding the exact date for this bout.
