NCAA basketball: ranking the top 20 jerseys in Division 1 basketball

Many programs use their jerseys as a way of expressing history and tradition. With the Kentucky blue and white and the UCLA gold, here's a list of the 25 best college basketball jerseys from the 2019-20 season.

1. Duke University Blue Devils

These "Brotherhood" jersey were revealed in early January to commemorate Coach Mike Krzyzewski's forty year career with the Blue Devils. They were revealed prior to their January 11 matchup with the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.

2. University of Georgia Bulldogs

These sleek, white throwbacks were revealed ahead of their matchup against Georgia Tech in November 2019. These were designed as a celebratory jersey for the Dominique Wilkins era of Bulldogs basketball.

3. UCLA Bruins

This Bruin look has been the same for quite a long time, and is regarded as one of the most iconic jerseys in college basketball history. This, alongside the white and gold jersey, is a fantastic example of the fusion of tradition and modernity.

4. University of Florida Gators

These throwbacks jerseys were introduced to celebrate the first Final Four appearance for the school in the 1993-94 season. Additionally, these also celebrate the 100 year anniversary of the school's basketball program.

5. Villanova University Wildcats

These throwback jerseys were introduced prior to the matchup against the Kansas Jayhawks in December 2019 to celebrate Villanova basketball's 100 year anniversary.

6. University of Texas Longhorns

These crisp white jerseys stick with the original Texas color palette. Memories of Kevin Durant during his college days come rushing back with this uniform.

7. University of Kentucky Wildcats

These uniforms have been in use since the creation of the Kentucky basketball program. They still hold that sense of history and tradition, but add a bit of flair with the Nike branding.

8. Syracuse University Orange

Earlier in December, Syracuse unveiled a new retro themed jersey prior to the matchup against Georgetown on December 13, to honor the 1983-84 men's basketball team.

9. Vanderbilt University Commodores

These uniforms were just introduced at the beginning of the season year to serve as an alternative set of uniforms for the squad. The presentation of the school name and the stripes down the sides add an interesting touch to the overall look of the jersey.

10. University of Nevada Wolf Pack

After the 2018 season, Nevada made the switch from Nike to Adidas. As a result of that, new jersey designs were introduced. This fresh kit is a little different than their home jersey, but it gets the job done.

11. University of North Carolina Tar Heels

North Carolina's basketball program is full of tradition. From the legendary Michael Jordan to Vince Carter, many iconic players have laced up in these blue and white uniforms. This jersey adds a bit of a twist with the presentation but sticks with the original color scheme.

12. University of Mississippi Runnin' Rebels

These navy alternate jerseys give Ole Miss an interesting jersey to wear on the road. The color scheme gives the Ole Miss guys something different for the new season.

13. Clemson University Tigers

This jersey takes us back to the 90s era for Clemson basketball. It features a retro wordmark across the chest and piping down on the shorts and jersey.

14. University of Tennessee Volunteers

These throwback uniforms were debuted last year ahead of their December 2018 matchup with the Louisville Cardinals and are still in use today. It pays homage to the Volunteer teams throughout the 1970s and 80s, most notably used by Coach Ray Mears, who guided them to conference championships in 1967, 1972 and 1977 as well as a national championship in 1967.

15. Stanford University Cardinals

While the Cardinals didn't debut anything special for this season, they stuck with their old threads. The color palette used by Stanford works really well and doesn't do too much.

16. University of Colorado Buffaloes

This old school jersey was made to honor Coach Walseth and the 1969 Big Eight championship team, revealed before their matchup with Utah in January.

17. Iowa State University Cyclones

Simple yet so effective. These jerseys have been in the Cyclones' lineup for some time now. And I can see why. The red trim down the sides of the jersey create an actual cyclone.

18. University of Michigan Wolverines

Michigan has been using these jerseys for as long as I can remember. It works well for their nickname, "the blue and maize" and the design is just elegant.

19. University of Southern California Trojans

The Trojans have donned these threads for while now. The gold and red work off of Trojan uniforms of the past to create something special for the modern basketball world.

20. University of Oklahoma Sooners

These Sooner threads are very similar to ones used in previous seasons, but the replacement of the Nike logo with the Jordan brand logo elevates the total elegance of this uniform.
