There was some October magic in the air Saturday night at Faurot Field as Missouri came close to stunning a college football giant.

Here are live updates from Missouri hosting No. 1 Georgia at Faurot Field.

Mizzou-Georgia live updates

Georgia runs out the clock

After Missouri exhausted its timeouts, Georgia converts a third-and-2 with about a minute remaining to escape Columbia with a 26-22 win.

More: Three takeaways as upset eludes Mizzou's grasp against No. 1 Georgia

Mizzou goes three-and-out

Brady Cook threw three straight incomplete passes against a stiffening Georgia defense.

Missouri punts the ball back to the Bulldogs, who take over at their own 36 with 3:39 remaining.

Georgia takes its first lead of the night

For the first time all night, Georgia has pulled ahead of the Tigers with 4:03 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Daijun Edwards punched in a 1-yard touchdown run to cap a seven-play, 68-yard drive.

The Bulldogs lead 26-22 as Missouri enters its biggest possession of the season.

Georgia pulls within three

After Mevis hits his fifth field goal of the game, Georgia drove down to the field and punched in a short rushing touchdown. It's 22-19, Missouri is still leading.

End of the third quarter: Missouri 19, Georgia 12

Georgia cuts the MU lead, again

It's back to a one-score game.

The Tigers' defense failed to break again. Georgia has settled for a field goal again as it's 19-12.

The last time Georiga was held without a touchdown through three quarters was against LSU in 2019. Missouri is a few minutes away from accomplishing that.

Both teams trade field goals

Opening the second half, the Bulldogs went down the field on their first drive of the third quarter to cut the Tigers' lead to 16-9.

Mevis, continuing his bounce-back game, hit his fourth of the game. This time from beyond 50 yards.

It's 19-9. Missouri remains in the lead with the third quarter ticking away.

HALFTIME: Missouri 16, Georgia 6

Who, and I mean who, could have seen this coming?

The Tigers that lost to Auburn in overtime and to Kansas State in a blowout, are leading the No. 1 overall team and the defending national champions at halftime.

This is thanks to a defense that has played beyond what many have expected.

Hello, Cody. Mizzou is up 13 again

After holding Georgia to a field goal, the Tigers get all the way down to the Georgia one. After three tries at the end zone, MU settles for a Mevis field goal, his third.

Cody Schrader set that kick up with a 63-yard gallop that stopped mere inches shy of the end zone.

A false start marred the drive, bringing it back to the six. The Tigers are back up 13, but could have made it 20-3.

Georgia gets on the board

The champs are talented, but the Tigers' defense held strong. Georgia nails a 40-yard field goal to make the score 13-3.

Give MU's defense credit. It bent a bit, especially on a long throw to Brock Bowers, but the defense never broke. Forcing a field goal is a win.

Mizzou adds to its lead on Georgia

Daylan Carnell recovered a fumble on third down in Georgia territory. That led to another Mevis field goal. This time, he hits from 49 yards out.
