Having had their games against Brentford and Brighton postponed due to COVID-19 issues, the Red Devils were back on track this Monday after 16 days of not having any match-day appearance.

It felt nothing like drinking directly from the pot as expected by most of the Manchester United fans since they were playing with Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United which ranked second last on the premier league table.

The match entertained the evening as it ran into a 1-1 draw at the St.James’ park.

Allan Saint Maximin set the stadium on fire when he scored for Newcastle their first and only goal in the match after only 7 minutes of play. This put Newcastle in the driving seat and as the hosts, they nursed their guests through the second half with continuous attacks.

In a bid to kickstart the second half, Ragnick made the most crucial and appropriate substitutions as he called off Fred and Manson Greenwood whom he replaced with Sancho and Cavani respectively.

Ronaldo just seemed not to be having the best of the evening and this was written all over his face as they strived to get a comeback for the Red Devils which looked like an old girl’s tale all through the first half to the first few minutes of the second half when Cavani scored the equalizer which restored some hope for Manchester United bagging a point back to Old Trafford.

Meanwhile, Joelinton had his time to shine in the midfield as he made all the fine passes past Man United’s defense line.

As we counted 20 minutes to the end of the game, Cavani saved the day when he scored a near-post with an assist from Bruno Fernandes.

Later on, Miquel Almiron’s shot seemed to threaten Manchester United’s one point but didn’t stand a chance as David Degea tipped the ball over the bar. This save followed of so many other superb saves thus David Degea deserves a bit of credit for the point the Red Devils claimed.

Though Maximin had a great evening, it all didn’t end too well since he went off the field with an injury. Callum Wilson went off the field with an injury too.

After both teams shared the points, none of them was able to pull up on the table as Manchester United was left 7th on the table with 28 points and Newcastle remained 19th with 11 points.

Apart from the fans, Eddie Howe didn’t like the game his men played too. “I didn’t like the performance at all” says Ralf Ragnick.

I would say, The Red Devils greatly missed Paul Pogba’s presence.

This draw leaves Manchester United distanced from its goal of ranking within the top four. As per now the Red Devils stand seven points behind Arsenal - “The Gunners” who rank 4th on the premier league table
