Where will he go?

James Harden, an 8-time All-Star NBA American professional basketball player who plays for Houston Rockets, is set for the trading rumors. Harden is recognized as one of the top players in the NBA league with one of the best scoring skills. In 2009, Harden was named a consensus all American and Pac-10 player of the year where he played for Arizona State Sun Devils in college.

In 2009, Oklahoma City Thunder selected Harden as their third pick where he was named NBA All-Rookie second team after recording 3 points make by a rookie where his basketball career started. In the 2011-2012 season, Harden received an NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award and helped the thunder reach the NBA Finals. In the 2012-2013 NBA season, Harden was traded to the Houston Rockets and since then he has made the most score points in NBA.

Standing at 6 feet 5 inches, Harden mostly plays the shooting guard position as well as the point guard position. And has a record in the NBA history of being the highest left-handed scorer, besides having a good reputation on the offensive, Harden had a poor defensive mechanism on the pitch and made a commitment to work on his defense which improved gradually. Harden is cited as one of the major contributors to the Rocket’s regular success.

Recently, there has been trade rumors with Harden opting to play somewhere else. He made this official to the Rocket’s office of his desire to play in another team. His actions also seem to drive the matter home after he flouted the COVID-19 protocols of the league by partying in Las Vegas and Atlanta instead of attending the start of training camp.

The Houston Rockets are set to begin the preseason games in Chicago and due to Harden’s setbacks and COVID-19 protocols he will sit out on the preseason games. Last month, it is reported that Houston Rockets presented Harden with a two-year, $103 million extension, which he declined.

Harden would like to put himself out there and compete for the championship, a proposition he had made to the Rockets’ severally in the previous years. He wished that the team would either build a championship roster or trade him, a deal former Rocket’s general manager Darly Morey delivered multiple times by giving Harden sidekicks like Chris Paul, Russell Westbrook and Dwight Howard.

Harden is willing to play for the Philadelphia 76ers or other contenders if the Rockets cannot get a deal done with the Brooklyn Nets. Regardless of Harden’s claims he does not have a tone of leverage and his actions have not made it easier either. On the other hand, Rockets are willing to wait until they get an offer that will blow them away and are in no hurry to broker a trade.

They want a package that will include a bundle of first round picks for any Harden deals, a young franchise cornerstone and talented players on rookie contracts according to ESPN’s Tim MacMahon and Adrian Wojnarowski. A huge price to ask but due to Harden’s value the team would not trade without getting a fair return as it would cripple the team for years.

For now, Harden remains a player in the Houston Rockets team and finally went back for the training camp after being tested for COVID-19. If he continues to play by the book, the team may be willing to broker a deal faster, but they remain hopeful that if they remain competitive and win, Harden may come back on board because a season without Harden at his best, well, nobody is sure what that future might hold.
