It Didn’t Happen

The Knicks blew their post-season win perfection. What does it mean?

So the Knicks couldn’t complete the sweep. Boohoo. They’ve still got at least two games to win in this series. With coach Mike Brown’s insistence on fluid, natural ballplay consisting of swift passses and succinct ball rotation, he has a chance at guiding his players to the promised land.

But like many have seen, Webanyama is a force the NBA hasn’t seen since Shaquille O’Neal. (And the guy can shoot three pointers and foul shots!) But if the “Brunson Burner” gets hot in game four, the Garden might get their thousands of dollars worth despite possibly seeing the series knotted up at two games a piece.

Once the defense coordinates and shuts down Castle and Vassell, then we shall see who will be the best players on the court. The support by cast on both teams could win SAG Awards.

They’ve proven that the “Orange and Blue Skies” and the “Silver and Black” have proven to be exciting matches.

But forget about that. The cheapest seats at MSG are running over $5,000. As the sports mecca of the world, this next game should be boring for the fans. The Knicks should go up by forty to fifty points. If beer costs twenty dollars and nachos and cheese go for thirty dollars, there should be a home team that ought to decimate the competition.

On the road to the championship, The Spurs know the zone and how to facilitate the ball to the Big Man. They can use their court intelligence to keep up their momentum. Any time the Knicks go into the paint to go to work on defense, the ball is kicked back to a player in the perimeter. The Spurs usually cash in on such an action.

The Knicks must’ve had the home crowd jitters. Like Broadway performers, they could earn TONY® Awards for their exemplary efforts. They, however, must’ve been spooked by the crowd, ironically. They made mistakes and couldn’t control the dribble.

Some plays remained out of their hands, though. Obvious fouls didn’t get the proper attention they should have by the refs.

To consider game three, the Spurs played and A and the Knicks played a C+. That’s on both sides of the floor. The Spurs’ acumen when the clock first started counting down in the first quarter pronounced to them “control, control, control.”

And so they did for the most part. The Knicks had a little lead but it quickly evaporated. Like Brooklyn, New York son Shawn “JAŸ-Z Carter quoted: “This year, it’s all about offense.” Yes, defense wins ballgames, but offense is what wins championships.

So for the Knicks to not just survive but thrive on these NBA streets, they’ve gotta find situations to grab offensive boards and capitalize on them with buckets.

To keep up the momentum of a few three pointers made, they have to continue to attack the rim and allow Brunson to get his coveted floaters and fade aways in on certain occasions.

If Hart gets hot beyond the arc, there just might be a breath of life still within the Knicks. When they play well, they really play well. When everything is clicking, everyone in a New York jersey knows their roles and rolls with it.

It is amazing to see the Knicks take down their foes and let’s not say President Trump jinxed them. He had nothing to do with it in reality. It might be fun at first, but there seems to be a breakdown in what people will have superstitions about.

Whatever the case, the Knicks have a chance to a create a space for themselves to flourish without ever worrying about it.
