Stacey Ann Williams tops 400 runners in Big 12

Colorado's Hurta Sage holds national lead in mile

Colorado's Hurta Sage has the NCAA's top time in the mile run. She crossed the finish line at 4:31.80 at the Iowa State Classic, Feb. 12. The senior also has the third fastest time in the country in the 800-meter run. Sage recorded a time of 2:02.54, when she won at the Razorback Invitational, Jan. 29.

Right behind Sage in the mile is Arkansas senior Krissy Gear who ran 4:31.83 at the Tyson Invitational. Amaris Tyynismaa, a sophomore out of Alabama has the third best time of 4:33.22. Two other Arkansas runners round out the top five. Junior Lauren Gregory (4:34.19) and senior Katie Izzo (4:34.19) both ran their top times of the year at the Tyson Invitational like their teammate Gear.

YSU's Madison Murry holds top spot in Horizon 60-hurdles

Madison Murry continued to hold on to the top time in the Horizon League's 60-meter hurdles rankings. The Youngstown State freshman ran a personal best time of 8.77 on Feb. 13 at the Kent State University Doug Raymond Invitational. She currently sits in front of 2019 outdoor 100-meter hurdles conference champ Kayla Thompson. The Northern Kentucky senior's time of 8.95 at the 2021 Mastadon Invitational, Feb. 12, vaulted her in front of Murray's teammate Emily Bee.

Bee, also a freshman has the Horizon League's third best time of 9.03, which she ran on Jan. 29 on her home track at the YSU Mid-Major Indoor Invitational. Murry became the first hurdler this season to run the 60-meter hurdles under nine second when she ran her previous personal best Jan. 30, with a 8.83 finish. She has been the conference leader since that day.

Stacey Ann Williams of Texas holds Big 12's best 400 finish

Texas junior Stacey Ann Williams recorded a fourth place time of 52.50 in the 400 meters at the Tyson Invitational on Feb. 12. Despite finishing fourth in the race, that time is the top 400 finish in the Big 12 this season. Williams finished second at the Big 12 Championships last season when she ran the indoor 400 meters in a personal best time of 52.40. This season she currently sits in front of her teammate junior Kennedy Simon who won last year's conference championship. Simon's top finish this season was 52.67, Jan. 22 at the Wooo Pig Classic.

Kansas senior Honour Finley is third in the Big 12 rankings. She recorded a time of 53.84 at the Arkansas Qualifier, Feb. 5. Williams is ninth in the nation. Simon and Finley are 13th and 27th respectively.

Cincinnati's Caisja Chandler owns best times in two sprint categories of the American Athletic Conference

Cincinnati's Caisja Chandler recorded the top times of the American Athletic Conference in the 60- and 200-meter dashes at the H-Town SpeedCity Series III, Feb. 13. Chandler held off up and coming freshman Camille Rutherford of Houston in the 60 meters. Both athletes sit in the top two spots as Chandler ran 7.31 and Rutherford clocked in at 7.33.

In the 200-meter dash, Chandler rattled off a time of 23.54 at the same meet, finishing ahead of another Houston sprinter, junior Cecilia Tamayo-Garza (23.82). Both of those times are the top two in the conference as well. Two other Houston competitors rank third and fourth in this event. Freshman Zarie Dumas ran the 200 meters in 24.32 at the H-Town SpeedCity Series II, Jan. 29. Her teammate Rutherford also finished at 24.35 on Jan. 29.
