Mid-American Conference Update

Eastern Michigan's Alyson Davis has the fastest 60-meter dash time in the conference so far this season. The sophomore ran a time of 7.53 at the University of Akron Quad meet on Jan. 15. Her closest competitor is Kimone Hines of Northern Illinois, who recorded a time of 7.54, Feb. 5, at the Grand Valley State Showdown.

Davis competed on the same Grand Valley State track and put up a time of 7.60 on Jan. 23. There is a tie for the third best time in the conference as senior Savannah Nevels of Bowling Green and junior Jacqueline Pokuaah of Akron both have finishes of 7.60.

Bowling Green sprinters have the top two times in the 200 meters as Ryen Draper and Jemeila Hunter sit atop the Mid American Conference. Draper ran her time of 24.59 at the Bowling Green State University Opener, Jan. 16. Hunter ran 24.69, 13 days later at the Sid Sink Invite, also held at Bowling Green.

Eastern Michigan's Alysse Wade's time of 8.64 leads all 60-meter hurdlers in the conference. She ran that time at the Grand Valley State Snowdown Showdown, Feb. 5. Akron's Pokuaah is also in the mix in that category when she ran the MAC's second best time at 8.74 on the same day at the University of Akron Invitational.

Pokuaah is in the top spot among long jump competitors. Her jump of 19 feet-10 and 3/4 inches is one spot in front of Central Michigan's Hayley Manners' mark of 19 feet-four and 1/4 inches. Her Akron teammate Zoi Balamouti is tops in the triple jump event at 38 feet-five and 1/2 inches.
