Diary of an Angry, Fed-Up Dallas Cowboys Fan
I'm tired of the 30-year-old excuses from this team

It's been 31 years since the Dallas Cowboys won a Super Bowl and three years since they were in the playoffs. To top it all off, they've had 13 playoff exits. Over three decades of not winning a Super Bowl is embarrassing and you wonder why they're always the butt of all jokes. I love my team and have been a fan since 1994, but I have to keep it real about them. As much as I respect Jerry Jones and credit him for the success behind the Cowboys winning five Super Bowl titles, in the last decade, my patience had started to wear thin of him. According to Forbes, the Dallas Cowboys net worth in 2025 was $13 billion and the most valuable sports franchise in the world and NFL's most valuable team for 19 consecutive years. While that looks good on paper, winning a championship is always the ultimate goal. The main problem I have with Jerry Jones are two things: he's completely delusional of why the Cowboys are still without a Super Bowl title over three decades later and he has to wear different hats in the organization. The explanation behind the latter point was that he tries to be the head coach, offensive coordinator, and defensive coordinator on top of being in charge of the most iconic team in football. When Jerry Jones first arrived in Dallas, many people disliked him. Dallas Cowboys fans like me have grown tired of him destroying the team every year.
Winning championships are everything in Texas. Whether it's high school sports or professional sports, anything less than that is considered a failure. We have very high expectations for our teams, because we we're passionate about them. Allow me to share a couple of examples. The first being the 2006 Dallas Mavericks. They played against the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals. The Mavericks were leading in the series 2-0, but Miami was too much for them to handle and ended up losing not only the series, but a chance at winning their first NBA title in franchise history. Fast forward to 2011, they would meet again in the NBA Finals. This time, luck was on the Mavericks side, and they finally won the big one. For Dirk, he finally got his wish by winning an NBA title and eventually retiring. 2011 might have been a great year for them, another professional sports team was also aiming to achieve a first in the same year. That team was the Texas Rangers. After their crushing loss to the San Francisco Giants in their first World Series in franchise history the previous year, the Rangers were back in the Fall Classic again to have another shot at winning their first championship. In Game 6, they were one out away of clinching a World Series title in both the bottom of the 9th inning and in extra innings but were unsuccessful. The St. Louis Cardinals, the Rangers opponent in that year's World Series, ended up winning the final two games and winning it all. However, 12 years later, they finally achieved the goal that slipped away from them back in 2011: becoming World Series Champions. That we wouldn't have to talk or hear about Game 6 of the 2011 World Series again.
Going back to the Cowboys: If both the Dallas Mavericks and Texas Rangers finally got over the hump and won their respective championships, why haven't the Cowboys been able to win a Super Bowl in so long? Division titles and playoff appearances aren't enough to satisfy us. We want to see our team win the big one. I feel that Jerry Jones needs to sell the team, for the sake of himself and Cowboys fans. Him firing Jimmy Johnson during the 90s made me look at Jerry Jones differently. Had Jimmy Johnson stayed, the Cowboys would've won multiple Super Bowls. I don't care if my team is relevant. I care about my team winning a Super Bowl, which has always been the goal. I'm honestly tired of Jerry Jones ruining this team and the BS excuses. Us Cowboys fans deserve better than this. Dak Prescott has never been the reason why this team has yet to have solid success in the playoffs, let alone, win a Super Bowl. Neither was Tony Romo. The common denominator was always Jerry Jones. Troy Aikman had always been brutally honest about the Cowboys playoff failures and the team in general. I wish he was our head coach, because things have to change in this organization soon. We need a real owner who cares about winning Super Bowls and is a real leader, not someone who brainwashes others who forces others to become yes men to him. We also need a real owner who cares about wanting the Cowboys to succeed and winning in general. You never see any other owner of an NFL team who is egotistical and delusional as Jerry Jones. Those owners stick to their own roles accordingly and not try to wear multiple hats within their respective organizations. Us Cowboys fans are tired of the yearly disappointments and the lies that come out of Jerry Jones' mouth. We want to see real leadership happen in the Dallas Cowboys organization. Until that day comes, we're stuck with an owner who has been ruining this team for decades.
