A Villainous Alliance Brewing Between Doudrop and Nikki A.S.H.?
Analyzing the possible results of Nikki A.S.H.'s backstage encounter with Doudrop on Raw
I cannot help but be stuck on that brief moment that occurred backstage on the latest edition of Raw. A wild and crazy episode saw, among other things, Nikki A.S.H. capture the 24/7 Championship from Dana Brooke backstage, making Nikki the first to have held the Raw Women's Championship, the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship, and the 24/7 title. An angry Dana Brooke ordered her new husband, Reggie, to get her a rematch, which he does, and Dana regains her title once again, after which Dana demanded a divorce after Reggie (yet again) tried to win the title from her.
After the loss, Nikki is shown backstage looking very despondent, when out of nowhere, Doudrop appears and approaches her fellow countrywoman. At that moment, the sinister villainess asked a pair of simple questions to Nikki:
"Are you done? Are you ready to stop playing around and start taking things more seriously?"
Nikki gave a simple "yes" to Doudrop's questions, and with that, let the speculations begin.
To me, this is a tale of two women who both turned heel just months apart and have been completely lost ever since. Let's start with Nikki A.S.H., shall we? Nikki had an amazing 2021, getting over with the "Almost a Superhero" gimmick and winning Money In The Bank, the Raw Women's Championship, and her third Women's Tag Team Championship. She would end 2021 on a bit of a skid, and it was on January 10, 2022 that Nikki turned heel on then-partner Rhea Ripley. The "A.S.H." gimmick remained intact despite Nikki being a villainess, and in the time that has passed since then, the only really notable thing that Nikki had done was attack Mighty Molly at the Royal Rumble. Nikki did make history with her 24/7 Championship win, but even so, we need to see more from Nikki.
You know, as much as people (unfairly) bash Eva Marie, honestly, she was the best thing in Doudrop's current main roster run. Weeks after severing her alliance with Eva Marie, Doudrop turned heel on November 8, 2021 by attacking Bianca Belair, with her motivation being frustration over Bianca constantly being in the title picture. The pair feuded after Survivor Series, and Doudrop had a title shot at the Royal Rumble, but similar to Nikki, Doudrop became lost in the shuffle as well. In fact, Doudrop's appearance on Raw was her first in months, so you can imagine my elation when I saw her appear.
It's clear that we will get a villainous alliance between Doudrop and Nikki, and it could mean a couple of things. For one, the "A.S.H." gimmick is over; it has to be. Remember: the evil Doudrop asked Nikki if she was done "playing around," and that has to mean that the eye-mask, cape, and bright colors have to be gone in favor of a more villainous look for Nikki--who could be back to being Nikki Cross once again. Speaking of name changes, one has to believe that Doudrop will be back to being Piper Niven with this new role. I absolutely loved how sinister Doudrop was in that segment; it makes her villainous motive that much more obvious: anger and frustration over being overlooked for so long. It would be nice if we get a third woman as part of this, because it would be golden to see the renamed Piper Niven serve as an evil faction leader, but either way, whatever happens from this point, should be interesting (as long as Vince McMahon doesn't bungle it like he does everything else).
