Chennai Super Kings will be taking on the defending champion Mumbai Indians in the tournament opener on September 19. With the series being pushed indefinitely by Coronavirus and with the leading sponsor withdrawing its name around a month before the tournament

Two players testing positive for coronavirus. This cash rich league suffered too many setbacks but now it has crossed all hurdles and the tournament is going to come back with a bang. Unfortunately not many players are able to participate in this. Some have opted out of this tournament for various reasons. Today we are going to take a look at eight cricketers who have pulled out of IPL 2020.

Number 8. Harbhajan Singh

Harbhajan Singh, Chennai Super Kings off spinner decided to opt out of IPL 2020 owing to some personal issues. His experience has helped CSK a lot in the past two years not just with the ball in hand. CSK is yet to come up with a replacement for the former Indian spinner.

Number 7. Harry Gurney

Harry Gurney was ruled out of the cash rich league due to a shoulder injury. The likes of Pat Cummins, Lockie Ferguson, Shivam Mavi and Kamlesh Nagarkoti will not really let KKR feel Gurney's absence. Therefore KKR has not called in for any replacement.

Number 6. Ben Stokes

Ben Stokes recently met his father who is suffering from cancer and is in a very bad state of health in New Zealand. Ben Stokes said that he will miss out on the first part of the series but has promised to come back as soon as possible. But will he? Is the question. With mental stress affecting him and forcing him to miss out on the Pakistan tour of England. Will he be able to concentrate on this year's IPL? Only time will tell.

Number 5. Jason Roy

Jason Roy decided to give IPL 2020 a miss after sustaining an injury during the recently concluded series against Pakistan. Delhi capitals won't really miss his presence since they already have enough Indian firepower in their armoury but still DC has called Australian seamer Daniel Sams as a replacement for Roy.

Number 4. Kane Richardson

Kane Richardson withdrew his name from the IPL 2020 for the birth of his child. Royal Challengers Bangalore has replaced him with an Australian spinner Adam Zampa. But RCB so wanted a fast bowler firehouse and they will surely miss Richardson this IPL.

Number 3. Suresh Raina

Suresh Raina opted out of the IPL 2020 due to personal reasons. Raina's departure stood a lot of misunderstanding in CSK's hierarchy. This did shock the cricketing world as Suresh Raina was not just an IPL legend but the backbone of the CSK team. However, everything has been settled and Raina might return to the UAE in the later stage of the tournament. CSK has not named any replacement for the South Pole but just a small suggestion from us with Yuvraj Singh suddenly going out of his retirement who knows he will surely look good in yellow. What do you think?

Number 2. Lasith Malinga

Lasith Malinga shocked the cricketing fraternity by withdrawing his name from the IPL 2020 series. Malinga preferred to stay back at home in Sri Lanka to spend time with his loved ones and looking after his ailing father. The Sri Lankan is the leading wicket taker of the tournament and Mumbai Indians will surely miss his services. James Pattinson has been named as his replacement.

Number 1. Chris Woakes

Chris Woakes opted out of the tournament to be with his pregnant wife. DC has replaced the English all rounder with South African pacer Anrich Nortje. But with Chris Woakes great form in the recent Australia England series, DC will surely miss him.
