3 Things This Week's SmackDown Possibly Told Us Could Happen in Their Women's Division

A look at the possible developments inside the SmackDown Women's Division

This week's SmackDown completed the fallout from this year's Survivor Series event, which featured WarGames on the main stage for the first time in WWE history. Like every WWE fan, I was quite excited for the continuous fallout from the event, but being a hardcore women's wrestling fan, I couldn't help but be elated and curious over what I saw develop regarding the blue brand's female superstars. Keep in mind, what I'm about to state isn't definite--rather, it's a belief of what I think could occur as a result of what I and other WWE fans watched this week. That being said, here are three things that (IMO) could occur as a result of what we saw in the women's division.

(Another) New Gimmick for Lacey Evans?

A popular belief among WWE fans is that they have been immensely lost when it comes to Lacey Evans. In NXT, it was all good; Lacey had the villainous "refined lady" gimmick that she would take to the Raw roster, but after that, it's been quite messy. Lacey went on maternity leave, but her return saw Lacey featured in inspirational vignettes that were designed to portray her as a sympathetic babyface. Instead, Lacey turned heel in quite a baffling move; using her powerful story to look down on the fans in attendance, but from what we saw this week, we could get yet another gimmick change for Lacey.

The vignette feature Lacey tapping into her Marine roots and undergoing what appeared to be basic training, and that leaves me to believe that Lacey will be repackaged as an evil "drill sergeant" of sorts. As a fan of Lacey, I'm upset that creative's acting like a bunch of headless chickens when it comes to her development. If this is a gimmick change, make it be the last one, and actually push Lacey. She's been in WWE too long to have to jump through so many hoops.

Raquel Rodriguez Heel Turn?

Raquel Rodriguez standing alongside Shotzi and Emma

The photo shows Raquel Rodriguez standing in-between Shotzi and Emma, coming after Emma was defeated by Shayna Baszler, and nearly had her arm broken by Shayna in a post-match attack--as did Shotzi. Raquel's appearance led to Shayna leaving, but even though she stood in solidarity with the pair, I can't help but have a feeling that Raquel's on the verge of a heel turn.

Now bear in mind, I'm not pulling for this, but something's up. I've had this feeling ever since Survivor Series, ever since I saw Raquel and Shotzi together backstage. I thought I'd see Raquel attack Shotzi during her title contest and cost her, maybe blame Shotzi for her broken arm. Even this week, I thought Raquel would attack Emma in some sort of sinister solidarity to Shayna. That's where I think this could go; Raquel joining Shayna and Ronda Rousey and forming quite an evil triumvirate of dangerously violent women.

Tegan Nox Returns; Next Tag Champs?

SmackDown also saw Damage CTRL make excuses for their WarGames loss at Survivor Series. At the event, the trio teamed with Rhea Ripley and Nikki Cross against Bianca Belair, Alexa Bliss, Mia Yim, Asuka, and the retuning Becky Lynch. The quintet of heels were defeated, and while Bayley led their pity party, Damage CTRL was interrupted by former SmackDown Women's Champion Liv Morgan, who called out the trio before entering to fight them. Despite the game effort, Liv was outnumbered, but she would get some help...in the form of the returning Tegan Nox!

Tegan entered and decked Dakota Kai first (no surprise) before taking down Bayley and Iyo Sky, but the numbers game took down Tegan, before Liv entered with a kendo stick and struck all three. So at long last, Tegan Nox is back! Seeing her standing with Liv has many, myself included, believing that they could be the next challengers for Damage CTRL's Women's Tag Team Championship, if not the next champions themselves. For this to happen, it has to be really built up properly; they can't go from Point A to Point B in a week, it has to be a journey.
