Top Five Pictures From the 2016–2017 NBA Season Thus Far
As we approach NBA’s All-Star Weekend, we have had plenty of memorable moments, plenty of triple doubles, plenty of in game dunks, plenty of buzzer beaters, plenty of basketball. There have also been plenty of pictures snapped throughout this season so far, and some of them are funnier than others. I’m going to determine the top five snapshots from the halfway over 2016–2017 NBA season.

16 Questions to Kyrie Irving About the Earth Being Flat
As you may have heard or read on social media, Kyrie Irving thinks the world is flat. He really thinks the world is flat. He went to Duke for a year and still thinks the world is flat. He had to have graduated high school and he still thinks the world is flat.

Todd Frazier Pulls a Switcheroo, Joins Yankees Instead
The dominant narrative of the Todd Frazier trade market has been that he was going to the Red Sox. Indeed, the Sox were in desperate need of a 3B, having just DFA’d free-agent-mistake Pablo Sandoval. But in a sudden turn of events, the Red Sox’s biggest rivals, the Yankees, landed Frazier and White Sox RPs David Robertson and Tommy Khanle in exchange for Tyler Clippard and a wealth of prospects. Let’s break this trade down.

Joel Embiid The GOAT of Social Media
Last week I ordered a Joel Embiid jersey from a Chinese website named Aliexpress and, if you’re a sports fan who likes wearing jerseys and you haven’t ordered from Aliexpress, you’re wrong. While an Embiid jersey will adorn my back in 12–20 days, he has overtaken the NBA this season on and off the court. Embiid is averaging only 25.3 minutes per game due to his foot injuries that kept him from playing the last two years. He makes the most of those 25.3 minutes while averaging 19.8 points, 7.7 rebounds and 2.5 blocks to a highlight of a so far rookie year campaign. While his numbers are eye popping, the most incredible part of Joel Embiid is his social media presence.

Red Sox Acquire Affordable 3B in Smart Move
Eduardo Nunez is not Yoenis Cespedes. He is not J.D. Martinez. He isn’t Carlos Beltran, or Jonathan Lucroy, or anything like the impact bats that we’ve seen moved around before the trade deadline that help teams make the playoff push.

(Rational) Hype for the NBA’s Christmas Day Games
The NBA season is coming…in two and a half months. The full NBA regular season schedule will be revealed very soon. Random, fun matchups will be announced — with many people getting excited over a DeMarcus Cousins-Nikola Jokic matchup on a random day in February. (I have a feeling that NBA twitter will be less enthused about that matchup when the actual season starts.) Basketball is getting closer. But all we have now is Nike jersey announcements and NBA 2K player rating leaks.

Dion Waiters and the Rebirth of Trash Talking
Many sportswriters and NBA connoisseurs believe we are in the golden age of athletic ability in the league. We do see more freaks than actual humans in the league. Triple-doubles are becoming a gamely occurrence, while poster dunks may not even make it on to basketball cards anymore. That’s all fine and well, but the NBA is still not the same.

Nashville’s Stanley Cup Craze
As the Nashville Predators have tied the Stanley Cup Final series at 2–2 against the Pittsburgh Penguins, the city of Nashville gets more and more into the sport of hockey. Hockey has been a big thing in Nashville in the past couple of years, but now with the hometown team in the biggest stage of the sport, it’s getting even wilder. I drove up to Nashville for game three and lucked out with getting a ticket the day before the game.
