Though our president reportedly does not read books, in 2018's political era, these are the top ten best political books to read now that Donald Trump is president.

From the Readings in American Politics: Analysis and Perspectives Edition 4 by Ken Kollman to Dear Madam President: An Open Letter to the Women Who Will Run the World by Jennifer Palmieri, we have covered all of the political bases when it comes to new literature at this day in age. Take a look at some of the top readings to do today.

To begin our list of the best political books, we would like to start off with Ken Kollman's Readings in American Politics: Analysis and Perspectives Edition 4. Kollman is a professor in the Department of Political Science and Research in the Center for Political Studies in the Institute for Social Research of the University of Michigan.

With both research and teaching experience, his book explores an analytical approach to the current American politics in our world. Understanding and analyzing the government, the book explores the foundational works of political scientists such as himself.

A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies, and Leadership is written by James Comey, the former FBI director, and as one of the best political books for 2018, the book shares all of Comey's never before told experiences in his previous career.

From high stakes situations to ethical leadership, he writes about the journey he was put on with such power appointed to by President Barack Obama from 2013 to 2017. Serving as the US attorney for the Southern District of New York under the administration of President George W Bush, he is a man who has had his fair share of power.

Understanding Trump lays out the changes in the American government that have been caused by our new presidency. A New York Times bestseller, it is written by Newt Gingrich and explores the movement that him into office. A phenomenon at the least, Donald Trump is certainly unlike any president America has ever seen.

With principles derived from business history and celebrity success, his politics do not come from a political background, clearly. Gingrich has worked with Trump for two years, and in Understanding Trump, he writes about his journey throughout the campaign, as well as the election and the first couple of months of the shocking presidency.

Next on our list of the best political books to read in 2018, Russian Roulette: The Inside Story of Putin's War on America and the Election of Donald Trump is certainly an opposite approach from our previous selection, but certainly a book that is well worth the read.

Written by Michael Isikoff and David Corn, the book explores the account of how Vladimir Putin allegedly hacked the American election of Donald Trump. A covert operation to subvert the United State's democracy, this book claims that Putin helped Trump gain the presidency. Informative, and written by two reputable journalists, it is an incredible read.

Ta-Nehisi Coates' We Were Eight Years in Power: An American Tragedy is another New York Times bestseller. Also the National Book Award winner for Between the World and Me, Coatesreflects on Barack Obama's presidency and the aftermath.

Also focusing on the election of Donald Trump, Coates attests the end of Obama's presidency as being the return to White supremacist rule. Exploring the history of our political era, he contrasts the Black president to a "vicious backlash that fueled the election of America's 'first White president.'"

Next, on our list of the best of this year's political books is written by Van Jones. Beyond the Messy Truth: How We Came Apart, How We Come Together is yet another New York Times bestseller. Attacking the hypocrisy on both sides of politics, Van Jones has poured all of his passion into this book.

Though he does get tough with Trump and the way that he holds the office, he also is sure to show respect and empathy for his supporters, taking an aim at both political parties for their failures. Instead of focusing on the bad, he pleads with his readers to abandon politics of accusation, and rather focus on solutions.

No Is Not Enough: Resisting Trump's Shock Politics and Winning the World We Need by Naomi Klein focuses on the dangers of the United State's new presidency. It explains the truth behind what Trump stands for, and how the trends of the past half-century are attested to dangerous extensions of such repetition.

Klein says, "This book is a toolkit to help understand how we arrived at this surreal political moment, how to keep it from getting a lot worse, and how, if we keep our heads, we can flip the script and seize the opportunity to make things a whole lot better in a time of urgent need. A toolkit for shock-resistance."

No Time to Spare: Thinking About What Matter by Ursula K. Le Guin is not your typical political book.

Though she doesn't write about Trump or Obama, the concerns, wonders, and knowledge that she has learned throughout her life are worth more than the battle between political parties. As one of the best political books, she tackles the concepts of old age, and what she learned during her time on this earth.

Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House might be one of the most well-known books on our list. And rightfully so, as it is a #1 New York Times Bestseller.

Revealing the behind the scenes action of the first nine months of Trump's presidency, the book provides a new world of access to the West Wing. Written by Michael Wolff, the book reflects the outrageous fierceness of the United States' president, the most controversial president of our time.

Last but not least on our list of the best political books to read in 2018 is called Dear Madam President: An Open Letter to the Women Who Will Run the World by Jennifer Palmieri.

As 2018 was such as incredible year for feminism, this book is a letter from Palmieri to the first woman president. Inspirational, practical, and motivating, her book is empowering to any woman in the world, especially those in politics. Giving advice to women everywhere, this is a must-read.
