Why I Support The Police.

Because Real Heroes Wear Badges, not Capes.

These people keep us safe!

I am going to say it here and now: I back the blue. Regardless if they are county police, sheriff's officers, or highway patrol, I support our law enforcement officials with a passion. And this is not limited to American officers of the law either, this goes out to police around the world.

Our law enforcement officials are at war every single day. Their mission is a life long quest to uphold the law and to enforce safety. Is it an easy job? Not in the least. If you thought your job was stressful, try working in a profession every single action you did was always under public scrutiny. Does not matter if you were right, there will always be something for the public to give you grief over.

The police go out into the city to contend with the worst of society. Drug users, thugs, thieves, rapists, murderers, robbers, burglars, abusers, gang members...anything you name it...and the police have to deal with this because no one else will. And its not just criminals the police have to put up with either. Officers of the law also have to deal with things such as suicidal people, missing persons, traffic accidents, the mentally deranged, and safety during natural disasters. I am quite certain this is only a fraction of what law enforcement has to work with, but this should give a general idea of what they face on a day to day basis.

It angers me when people express their hatred for the police. Using terms like "pig" or "doughnut eater" to describe the very people risking their lives to ensure the safety of the public. Sure, there are police officers whom brush these terms off as being juvenile, yet its insulting to these brave men and women whom preform in this line of work.

I should add that these same people whom laugh at the police, and poke fun at them, are always the first to call the law when something bad happens. Then, regardless of what is said or done, the police are seen as the villains by the public when they, the police, are there to help in a time of crisis.

Now, let it be clear. I may not always agree with everything the police does in the way of excessive force. I am in agreement that there are times the police go way too far. However, after having to deal with the worst dregs of society, its not that hard to understand why the police would use such a level of force. Imagine working a job where someone could be armed and dangerous and you are the only person who can stop them. Also, let's factor in the likelihood of you dying in the line of duty is a possibility.

As of this article's publication, over 107 police officers have died in the line of duty (Source: https://www.odmp.org/), and I hold great reverence for every single one of them. I never knew these officers. All I know is they were brave enough to put on the uniform and badge and uphold the law with distinction. Even as the public at times criticized these very officers for their line of work.

I've had friends and coworkers whom were former police officers. They all have said, and even told me, about the things they've dealt with while on the force. The look they had on their faces spoke a book's worth of words about what an officer of the law has to deal with.

There was a time when the police were once respected, even admired. Now we have deteriorated to hating the police for one reason or another. It's gotten to a point where there no longer needs to be an excuse to hate the police. The media can say just about anything and the masses will be riled up to express anti-police rhetoric. It is infuriating to see the very people whom keep us safe on a daily basis disrespected by the general public.

Considering all this talk about defunding the police, if not abolishing it outright, I say let those who live in Democrat controlled cities do so. This will finally reveal to Democrats, and Leftists for that matter, why we need a police force. As the old saying goes; "It's a dirty job, but somebody's got to do it" and that relates to law enforcement officials.

Until then, I am going to support the police anyway I can. Be it from defending the police from hateful rhetoric to living as a lawful citizen. The police have the worst job of anyone imaginable, yet they are vital in keeping everyone safe. As the old saying goes; "It's a dirty job, but somebody's got to do it" and that describes the police very accurately.

In closing, to any officer of the law whom may have read this, you have my unwavering support. It's not easy waking up to put up with the dark side of society. Even more unsettling is the fact you have to wake up each day, or night, pondering if that day or night will be your last. I, and many others, stand by you for your work in keeping us safe is most appreciated.
