I worry about our future (a pessimist's view).

People are dying everyday. I wish we lived in a world where no one died.

COVID-19 has caused a lot of stress and I'm afraid it might even get bigger or mutate into a deadlier strain. I wish I was not a brutally pessimistic person. I believe that we, as a human-race, are far more capable of leading a more beautiful and safer life than what we're doing now.

1. Why are we always trying to figure out solutions after the problem pops up? Why can't we be prepared? I understand that we have to be optimistic about life, but this is incomplete and vague, in my opinion. I believe that 100% optimism is not good for a country. I'm afraid it will lead to failure. Had one person in the past, one person in the high table been a pessimist, things probably might have been different now. Maybe we might have had more staff at NHS; maybe we might have had more emergency treatment centers; maybe we might have had out-of-the-box solutions to tackle COVID-19; or in the simplest possible scenario we might have at least had more Personal-Protective-Equipment for the NHS staff. What if 2021 brings upon us a new disease worse than COVID-19? (Touch wood).

2. Why are we not having a dedicated team of scientists who's sole purpose is to find solutions in advance. If only we had people who were kindhearted and not diplomatic in their everyday life we would have had a better world than what it is now. We as humans have evolved to become more selfish, in my opinion, which is totally understandable. However the question here is whether we are willing to remain as a selfish ape or become a selfish human, just an analogy as a food for thought. A selfish ape is concerned only with himself or herself. A selfish human on the other hand is supposed to be concerned with the life on earth as a whole. The problem here is that many of the humans, including (avoiding "especially") the humans in high positions, are becoming selfish apes, instead of selfish humans. Being selfish is alright but becoming an ape is not alright.

3. Why are we not floating towards utopia? From what I see, we're moving towards a dark future, where we'll be short of water, that will lead to short of money, which in turn will escalate to short of food and short of love, leading to short of patience which will ultimately lead to destruction and failure. The problem here is that by the time these things happen for real, we'll be either too old to take it seriously or dead before that. I understand that everyone wants to be happy today and not worry about future. Spiritually and philosophically speaking, being present is the moment will bring us joy and peace. However I would rather say, we must stop worrying about future only when you're prepared for the future. We're living in the 21st century, not in Kansas anymore. I guess we need to change our thoughts and philosophies about life to suit the current standard of living. Our ancestors had more natural resources. Unfortunately we're not having that. So there's naturally a need to be different. Maybe our ancestors had little worry about future ("compared to us") and were fortunate enough to have lived a happier life than us but we cannot afford to not think about our future. Am I right? Still, it's just my opinion.

4. So what is the solution? What is the goal?

"LET'S WORRY ABOUT FUTURE LIKE SELFISH HUMANS (not selfish apes)...

AND ONLY THEN WE SHALL NOT WORRY (be worried) ABOUT FUTURE...

AND THUS BE AT PEACE".
