The path from idealism to dictatorship

The path to hell is paved with good intentions

Comments from Jeremy Corbyn- For non-British readers he is a socialist ideologist probably a well-meaning and committed person but who just does not live in the real world. His “mantra” on how we should all live is:-

“You care for each other, you care for everybody, and everybody cares for everybody else.”

---- He has many committed activist followers in British politics

If we move this to the real world; In any—or in each- small community ; one person does not care so they take from everybody else. Or everybody uses coercion to suppress and control that one person. Who then becomes resentful and rebellious, force is needed, rules made, for the good of everyone. But who decides what is “good” for everyone?

Magnify this to real populations say 150 million people . If 10 million try to live the socialist ideal dream, and If they are given control over the whole population, they find that people are not of equal abilities or even intelligence (they may all be equally good people, they may all be born with equal rights to exist but they are not equal in terms of their ability to be of use to the community) and so some must manage production of everything from food to building and so these people get given responsibility for the production of essentials to be shared by all. Those with responsibility see no reason they should work harder, have more responsibility but only get the same share of material “reward” as the lazy and feckless. So, they refuse to accept responsibility if they are to get the same pay as the least capable person, and so they get given more pay. Then time passes and technical innovation causes the need for financial investment. The ideologist socialists then tax the whole 150 million to pay for this investment and for the imposition of their ideology on all, it costs money to produce and share out everything. Those with responsibility and getting more pay, are taxed more than the lowest paid because in the minds of the socialists this is how things should be. But those paying more tax then find they are no better off than the lowest paid, who they are responsible for; so, they end up not accepting responsibility. The socialist idealists then see they need “political” control over the management class and so they impose a bureaucracy between themselves and those who are actually ensuring people are fed, clothed, and housed. This bureaucracy is a political concept which means those appointed to manage it are chosen for their political agreement not for any technical knowledge or even because they are diligent. This bureaucracy then finds it does not understand the technology or workings of producers and so it imposes control by demanding everything is reported to them in terms they do understand. Production stagnates and falls behind the needs of the nation.

Then we find that millions cannot or will not, pay unfair taxes especially since the tax money gets spent on the bureaucracy and political control rather than what is needed, this leads to draconian enforcement and control is imposed on all 150 million- In the minds of the idealists this is for their own good, they should have accepted wanted and loved the ideology.

Within 10 years democracy has ended, you have a one-party state that controls all and within another 5 years you have a dictatorship. With thought police and punishment for failing to agree with the great leader. Rule by a minority is not sustainable, no matter how strong the political belief and commitment held by that minority

Be very careful what you wish for. Political dreamers can be as dangerous and the guy with a gun.
