The Great Political Parboil: How the Senate is Blanching Todd Blanche for General Cabinet Consumption

Plunging Trump’s Private Fixer into the Ice Bath of Constitutional Theater While the Rest of Us Choke on Unwashed, Days-Old Institutional Decay

The Dog and Pony Show of the Senate's Approval

Step right up to the great imperial kitchen of Washington, D.C., where the chefs of the ruling class are currently demonstrating the fine art of political blanching.

If you’ve ever prepared a meal to impress guests you secretly despise, you know how blanching works. You take a raw, dirty piece of produce, drop it into boiling water for a hot minute to scald away the surface grime, and then instantly plunge it into an ice-cold bath.

What does this do?

  • It locks in a vibrant, fake cosmetic color—making something old and bitter look fresh and bright.

  • It sanitizes the surface, rinsing off the dirt just enough to make it look digestible.

  • It softens the skin, making it incredibly easy to peel away the layers.

But let’s be honest: blanching is a luxury. It’s an extra, expensive step for people with the time, money, and pristine kitchens to obsess over presentation.

Down here in the real world, the general public doesn’t get "blanched" governance. We are forced to eat raw, unwashed, days-old institutional garbage straight out of the dirt, while the Senate puts on a Michelin-star performance to convince us that the system is clean.

The current Senate confirmation hearings for Todd Blanche to become the Attorney General of the United States are the ultimate culinary illusion. They are boiling him, freezing him, and preparing to serve him to a public that never ordered this dish in the first place.

The Theater of the "Ice Bath"

In an honest, morally functioning republic, the job application for Attorney General would have a pretty basic gatekeeping question: "Have you recently served as the personal defense attorney and private fixer for a convicted felon and adjudicated rapist who also happens to be the President?" If the answer is yes, you get escorted out of the building.

But we don’t live in that nation. We live in a theater of the absurd where Todd Blanche is not only nominated, but his chief qualification is his proven track ability to shield Donald Trump. Specifically, by managing the release of the Epstein files with just enough calculated sloppiness to keep the damning truths locked away while exposing a victim’s identity—a neat little trick that has the political class nodding in silent approval.

To make this look like a legitimate constitutional process rather than a banana republic shakedown, the Senate must go through the motions of the scalding pot.

We watch Republican Senators play-act as independent guardians of democracy. Senator John Cornyn raises his eyebrows and acts "outraged" over a $1.776 billion "Anti-Weaponization" fund and sweetheart tax liability deals for the Trump family. Senator Thom Tillis sighs heavily and demands Blanche meet with Epstein survivors to "repair the vetting errors."

It is a beautifully choreographed dance. They boil him in a little superficial controversy, then plunge him into the ice bath of bipartisan inevitability.

Make no mistake: the Democrats and Republicans alike are going to approve him. The margins are slim, the rhetoric is loud, but the rubber stamp is already wet with ink. The entire hearing is a dog and pony show designed to make a personal corporate mercenary look like a bright, clean public servant.

The Real Definition of Liberal vs. Conservative

To understand why this theater persists, we have to strip away the useless economic jargon. Both sides of the aisle already agree on the only economic model that matters: Supply-Side Debt Creation Capitalism. The real divide between the political classes isn't about money; it’s about how they view the rules of the game.

Let’s define them for what they actually are:

  • Liberalism: The belief that the Constitution should be applied liberally and equitably, as written, to absolutely everyone residing under its jurisdiction. It is the belief that the law is a universal shield.

  • Conservatism: The belief that the Constitution should be applied conservatively, tightly restricted and interpreted solely by those who arbitrarily get to decide who is—and who isn’t—worthy of being under its jurisdiction. It is the belief that the law is a weapon for the in-group and a shackle for the out-group.

This ideological split has created a devastating paradox for the people whose job it is to tell us what is actually happening: the journalists.

The Media Paradox and the Great Journalist Shakedown

By its very nature, true investigative journalism is liberal. It seeks the unvarnished truth, demanding that transparency and equity be applied to all institutions of power.

But who owns the printing presses and the broadcast towers? Wealthy, conservative media conglomerates whose entire existence is dedicated to maintaining rigid, profitable power structures. And power structures are built on a steady, daily diet of strategic lies.

    Wealthy Media Owners (Conservative)

During the Obama administration, the Justice Department went after the press with a heavy hand, seizing Associated Press records and targeting reporters in leak investigations. Back then, the wealthy corporate owners gladly used those heavy-handed government actions as a shield, turning the DOJ’s overreach into profitable anti-administration spin. The reporters, trying to protect their sources, were caught in the middle of a lucrative corporate-government turf war.

But today? The shield is completely gone.

The boundary between the billionaire class who owns the media and the executive branch of government has dissolved. They are in bed together, and they are collectively turning the lights out on the public.

Because the corporate media barons and the political class now share the exact same goal—maintaining a consolidated, untouchable hierarchy—the owners have absolutely no interest in defending their own journalists.

The DOJ is no longer just chasing leaks; it is actively shaking down the press corps:

  • They've stripped away the policies that kept the government from secretly seizing reporters' records.

  • They are issuing direct subpoenas to reporters who dare to look too closely at the gears of the machine.

  • They are restricting foreign journalist visas to make sure international eyes can't watch the decay.

Enjoy Your Raw Slop

So, as you watch the clips of the Senate Judiciary Committee "grilling" Todd Blanche on your feed, remember the culinary lesson.

The political class is in the kitchen, carefully blanching their chosen fixer so he looks bright, clean, and perfectly preserved for his tenure at the Department of Justice. They will tell you the system works. They will point to the "rigorous" questioning as proof of constitutional health.

Meanwhile, the journalists who try to tell you the kitchen is on fire are being locked in the pantry. And the rest of us? We are left sitting at the table, handed a plate of dirty, raw, unwashed reality, and told to smile and dig in.
