Three different Stories of constant Fear,

One single Neighbourhood that Burns

“I just want to get on with my life

But it isn’t like the after-school specials

You start out trying to give them some slack and understanding the pressure they are under

Then by the 3rd or 4th dead friend, You quit!

Although you try your best to hide it, the constant fear starts to get the better of you.

You stop trying to be understanding, Fuck those Pigs!

You get to quickly learn the sorts of cops that are a threat to you seeing your family tonight

And so instead of taking a needless risk

You get yourself a gun and shoot first

Although it is never openly talked about,

You know that others who also know,

Will give you a silent nod of understanding and respect.”

Respected citizen reduced to becoming a criminal, out of sheer terror and self-defence, within 2 years

Shot dead by Officer Peirce F. U. L. Esk. by the third year

While just trying to get home after a mid-day job interview

At a shop owned by Miss Vicky Thyme

You may start out full of piss, wind, and ideals

Then by the 3rd or 4th dead co-worker, You Stop!

Although you try your best to hide it, the constant fear starts to get the better of you.

You stop wanting to take any more risks

You get to know the sorts of people that are a threat to you seeing your family tonight

And so instead of taking any more needless risk

You shoot first

You know your fellow officers secretly understand and have you back.”

USA Cop for 3 years.

Who killed Mr Joe Black out of rage, fear, and loathing.

While wanting to protect his city.

Killed a year later by a very frightened young man.

Who had stopped seeing the police as allies after enough of his innocent friends has gotten killed.

“I just want to make something of my life, and give back to my community

But it isn’t like the American Dream I was sold.

You start out trying to give back to the community and create some jobs.

Then by the 3rd or 4th robbery or riot, the insurance premiums become too high

Although you try your best to hide it, the constant fear starts to get the better of you.

You stop trying to put your community first, Screw those ungrateful arse holes!

You get to know and learn the reason why no amount of 18 hours days will make a difference!

And so, stop having sympathy for the people you once wanted to give jobs to.

You get Jaded and bitter and frustrated

Although it is never openly talked about,

You know all you have worked so hard of decades for,

Can be lost in an instant.”

The Constant Fear, However!

Is VERY REAL!

People are NOT just things

People WERE NEVER just things

People WILL NEVER BE just things

But also...

People ARE and can ONLY ever be mere People

!

Blames and solutions are complicated.

Nothing is a simple as if first seems

I am not smart enough to have any of the answers

So, I can not sit here and preach on what the possible solutions might be.

!

But one thing seems clear to me

As long as you have the fear

You will never solve any of the other problems!

!

So please,

Can someone super smart solve that 'Fear bit' first?

Then maybe the rest of us can solve the rest!
