10 People Who Should Replace Sean Spicer and Why

Erik SkaarsgardPublished 7 years ago in The Swamp Dear Donald... Sorry, Not Sorry
Why apologize? Why should actors and other creatives keep apologizing to you for expressing their feelings? You have never apologized. In some ways that wouldn't be such a big deal, or at least not unprecedented. I was always bothered when Obama declined to apologize for certain things he did and said. Stupid. But not unprecedented. The real problem, though, is that you don't actually believe that you have ever made a mistake that warrants an apology. The difference between you and Obama is that he did not do something daily that most of us feel he owed us an apology.
Frank WhitePublished 7 years ago in The SwampWhy Can Democrats Take Heart After Losing Four Special Congressional Elections in a Row?
Much has been made of the Democratic loss in the special House election held for Georgia's 6th District near Atlanta. It has been the most expensive campaign for a U.S. House seat in, like, forever; upwards of $50 million US. The reason so much was spent (most from sources outside of GA) is that Jon Ossoff, the Democratic candidate, was not supposed to have a chance of winning this district; no Democrat has for the last 40 years. Further, this district has produced two of the most conservative legislators that Congress has seen, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and Rep. Tom Price (now charged with dismantling the Affordable Care Act a.k.a Obamacare) as Secretary of Health and Human Services in the Trump administration. Yet win it he almost did in the guerrilla primary in a field of 16+ candidates with 48.1% of the vote. (If he had received 50.001%, he would have won in the 1st round.) The closest runner-up, Karen Handel, a conservative out of the Price mold, received just 19.8%.
Scott BelfordPublished 7 years ago in The SwampDear Donald, Thank You for Keeping Media Companies Busy
Dear Donald, Although I might not particularly agree with your political views or the actions in which you have taken in office, I owe you a thank you. The things that you do and say are all over various platforms of media. While the context in which they consist of do not always stem from the best of topics and reason for being covered by media, you keep us media savvy people quite busy. As an intern at a media based, content-driven company, it is nearly impossible to not read and write about you. Whether it's tweeting, press conferences and interviews, or simply taking video and photographs of you during your daily routine, we are always on our toes waiting for you to say or do something worth covering. Being that you are always tweeting, releasing statements, and barely attempting to hide from those with any form of camera, it is not difficult for you to be an everyday part of our media coverage.

Christina St-JeanPublished 7 years ago in The SwampCan Tax Cuts Be Considered "Trickle Down Economics"?
Critics of tax cuts as governmental policy often claim that this approach to economics primarily serves the interests of the rich, whose niggardliness and cupidity only allows the poor to benefit from whatever "trickles down" the hands of their wealthier class counterparts. However, this assertion could not be further away from reality, as I will briefly explain herein.
Dear Donald

Beth GibbonsPublished 7 years ago in The SwampWhy Evangelicals Have No Relevant Message
On June 26, 2015, the Supreme Court of the United States ruled in favor of same-sex marriage in the landmark case: Obergefell v. Hodges. Same-sex couples and their supporters across the country celebrated what they considered to be a humane and just progression of domestic policy. However, a significant number of Americans protested the verdict and viewed it as an attack on accepted morality and even a suppression of religious liberty. Enter Kim Davis.

Bad jokes aside, I want to address the President directly as though he were seeing me as a client trying to deal his deep-seated childhood pain, profound sense of inadequacy, and low self-esteem. Without further ado,
Michael ThielmannPublished 7 years ago in The SwampDear Donald, Your Presidency is Reminiscent to "The Handmaid’s Tale"...and That's Bad
Dear Donald, I was never interested in what you had to say when you were campaigning for the presidency. Until this year, I never considered myself a person who was interested in politics. I had causes that I believed in, and I had opinions about those in office, but I never really paid too much attention...until now.

Dear President Trump, I do not think that you deserve this title. I do not respect you. But I do respect the title and the position, so therefore President Trump will be how I refer to you.
