Spike Lee’s Oscars Speech May Have Enraged Trump But Was He Really Being Racist?

Nope!!

Nope!

We all know by now what Spike Lee said at the end of his speech during the 2019 Oscars.

“The 2020 presidential election is around the corner. Let’s all mobilize. Let’s all be on the right side of history. Make the moral choice between love versus hate. Let’s do the right thing! You know I had to get that in there” - Spike Lee

Trump took it as a ‘racist hit’ against him. But was it really?

Lee’s words of making the moral choice between love versus hate don’t seem racist to me.

Plus adding the additional words of ‘let’s do the right thing’ just adds the context of choice.

In my opinion, I believe Lee was merely expressing that ever since Americans voted President Trump into office hatred in our country grew more.

Could it just be because of all the negative comments that the president—either orally or by his tweets—has given over his last few years in office that have agitated our population?

Let’s face it, President Trump is pompous in his attitude against EVERYONE.

It doesn’t matter if you are African American, Caucasian, Asian, or purple. He seems to have a problem with everyone, and he is not shy about expressing it!

Snarl

Wang from The Washington Post also pointed out the following about President Trump besides his comment against Spike Lee; “The post came amid a half-dozen tweets Trump posted Monday morning, which railed against everything from Robert Mueller’s investigation to criticism of his negotiations with North Korea” (2019).

What do you think, is Spike being racist, or does President Trump just have a chip on his shoulder?

This unfortunate situation appears to be taking place in America still today; racism.

It's time to ‘think outside the box’, and explore the possibility of a different type of message than racism within Lee’s speech.

Focus on the broader idea of how President Trump’s attitude towards everyone is more than less identical with no regard to racism at all.

Plus that of the possibility that Spike Lee is merely calling upon the action of love again within our country which perhaps we can find in the next presidential election.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. This one only needs two, and I feel that is all it will ever need.

Why do we hate so much in America?

Is it the color of our skin?

Our ethnicity?

The upbringing that has been handed down from our parents to us?

If you feel yourself slipping into this hatred mentality it’s time to pause and ask yourself ‘why’?

Also, ask yourself, perhaps the person that I have fear and hatred towards also feels the same way about me.

Why? How can I change how they feel about me?

It’s time to stop the madness!

We are in the 21st-century people.

We are all HUMAN.

So much can be learned from all cultures and ethnicities if we can just look beyond the color of our skin.

Am I saying that we will be able to always see beyond the fear and hatred for another person if we don’t mind the color of our skin?

No, that would be impossible, because we are human and humans have emotions.

We always fear what we don't know.

Instead of being ignorant, one should ‘know’ about the person they are hating.

Learn about their culture and how they were brought up.

Put your prejudice aside, and talk to that person, and find out their hopes and dreams.

I bet they will be almost the same as yours.

What I am saying is that we can learn to put our emotions aside and be more open-minded, and listen to the ideas of others to work together to build a better America.

Let’s not make America great again, let's make it BETTER!
