Many think Joe Biden should not be President at 79. Judging from his blunders they may have a point. For example, Joe Biden when commemorating the U S S Delaware on Saturday thought Michelle Obama had been the Vice President. Mr. Biden forgot that he had been Vice President when Barack Obama was in the White House. Mr. Biden was Vice President between 2009 and 2017.

President Biden since taking office has made a number of verbal mistakes. On St Patrick's Day, Mr. Biden was speaking by phone to the Irish Taoiseach. During the conversation, Mr. Biden managed to insult just about every Irish person on the planet. Referring to his Irish ancestry Mr. Biden said "I may be Irish, but I'm not stupid". Mr. Biden's faux pas highlighted a false stereotypical image of Irish people.

Having met Ukrainians fleeing the Russian invasion Mr. Biden managed to confuse Ukrainians with Iranians. Again, one could question the President's mental state. However, at 79 your mind will not be what it was. So maybe we shouldn't be hard on the President bearing in mind his age. Of course, Mr. Biden's enemies will have a field day with all these mistakes.

One does wonder how much awareness President Biden has in his job. The man is not completely bereft of intelligence but obviously, his aids will assist when needed. Some worry can an old man do the duties of someone younger? For example, can he be trusted with the codes for the US nuclear arsenal? Does he fully understand the enormity of the risks of conflict with Russia over Ukraine? Mr. Biden will know what Russia is doing in Ukraine. However, his cabinet, his aids, etc, will help him with policy over this crisis.

One has to wonder can the President last until the next Presidential election? Kamala Harris will take over if Mr. Biden steps down. To say what she would be like as President would be only speculation. In the meantime, Joe Biden remains as President for the foreseeable future.

The President's physical mistakes have also been highlighted. Mr. Biden has fallen up steps getting into a plane. Your balance and coordination will decline as you get older. Hospital waiting rooms are full of old people that have fallen. So the President is not alone in falling and given his age it's not surprising

The President sometimes takes 2-hour calls with other world leaders. The President must be alert and have clarity of mind. Unless of course, he makes mistakes during these calls but you never hear about it. And why would you? Phone calls, Zoom calls, etc, between world leaders, are private conversations. Unless one of the calls is leaked we will never know the President's competence.

Does Joe Biden go off script to the horror of his handlers? There have indeed, been occasions where the President has not stuck to a prepared speech. There was an occasion recently where Mr. Biden went off-script. Joe Biden spoke in derogatory terms about Vladimir Putin. His aids went into meltdown over this but the President said he was speaking from the heart. Biden like President Trump can and will occasionally veer off a prepared speech. Biden and Trump come from a generation where values were different. So don't be surprised if they offend the so-called woke generation.

If Biden can make it all the way to the next Presidential election will he stand again? If Trump runs again will it be a Trump v Biden 2? Time will tell how long the Biden Presidency lasts and if he secures a second term.
