Plan International Bangladesh started working in Bangladesh in 1994. In the course of our paintings, we encourage children and younger humans to be leaders of their communities and to make progress on critical issues. Plan International includes gender equality and inclusion in all areas of work. Factors affecting the growth of children in Bangladesh include lack of trained parents, malnutrition, lack of sexual health rights, poor education, high school dropout rate, and insecurity, especially for girls. , And premature infants. Enrollment rates and poor hygiene practices such as open delivery. Also, Bangladesh is one of the most disaster-prone countries in the world where the most vulnerable children live in the worst affected areas. Plan International Bangladesh.

Plan International Bangladesh targets the least significant children and our program directly benefits more than 2.3 million children across the country.

The way the plan works

Plan International Plan International Bangladesh's progress shows that we can stop child marriage only if the government, the community, and the girls work together, writes Sen. Gebregziaber, Plan International Regional Director for Asia.

In Bangladesh, where I recently served as Country Director of Plan International, more than half of the girls will be married before the age of 18. Worst of all, 18% of marriages will take place at the age of 15, although the legal age of marriage is 18.

Despite growing investment and global awareness, divorce is still a long way off. I believe that real change must come at all levels. Along with the new law, there is a need to change beliefs and understandings about girls' rights.

Performance at multiple levels

at more than one tier I am happy with our efforts in Bangladesh to gain this. in the final 3 years, Plan global has suspended 2,000 baby marriages there.

We did this: Working with policymakers:

We've got played a key function in getting the Bangladesh authorities to bypass a law to lessen the criminal age of marriage for ladies to 18 years. even though it is still arguable. The law has now been suspended for extra than years.

Strengthening local government:

We have educated and worked with local governments to prevent child marriage. As a result, many places have been refer to as 'childless locations'. this is a superb sign and an indication of their commitment.

Raising a voice of youth

Thru our toddler marriage, we've got reached out to extra than 6 lakh young humans in Bangladesh. We encourage them to do so and report infant marriage. Via life competencies, self-defense, baby safety, and information on gender equality, young human beings have shaped cooperatives against baby marriage.

Men and boys, including men and boys, have become true community champions. Once they are trained, they raise awareness about the consequences of child marriage and change their perceptions about when girls should get married.

Girls become the force of change

When I think about how far we have come in stopping child marriage, I am optimistic. When I think of people like Radha, who ran away from marriage at the age of 14 and became a child rights activist, I always believe that change can happen for girls in this organization.

Radha has joined Plan International's Wedding Busters team to introduce child marriage in her community. Her efforts have prevented many future marriages, and she is now talking about children and issues affecting child marriage around the world. She has become a champion of change and inspiration for other girls. Radha is a testament to what girls can do when they are given the opportunity to further their education and play a leading role in society.

To stop child marriage forever

We need investment and commitment from teachers, parents, the government, healthcare providers, and more to continue our process of ending child marriage.

Now more than ever, the conversation is changing and we no longer see girls as victims of child marriage, but as catalysts for change in the world. Let's work together, rewrite the story, and create a history of child marriage.
