Kabul: The Modern Dunkirk

A repitition of history we were all we're warned about.

It's 4:40 pm eastern time as I stare at this dirty screen of my laptop. The last few years haven't been good to me, but at least I'm not in Kabul. Sure as an aspiring, but failed author trying to relaunch his Patricians: Sinful Seven it was great to get a professional review that gave me some hope, but emotions are funny things. Hope the strangest of them all. So I wake up from my sombulant lifestyle, quit smoking, and looked around at the ruination I've caused because of my great depression. The necrosis in my front teeth glare back from a mirror should i have the courage to look, yet one thought keeps echoing, and that's at least I'm not in Kabul.

Right now there is a desperate mission ongoing, the details which of course must remain largely classified, won't come out for years, and will likely make for a great movie and future moment in Hollywood. U.S. diplomats, and those who aided the US over the years are caught in a desperate race to escape. Taliban has taken control of most of Afghanistan, and now surround Kabul. Videos from the terrorist organization proudly claim responsibility for killing a comedian Nazar Mohammad, known as Khasha Zwan in the Kandahar province of Afghanistan. Killing an artist is akin to Mike Tyson having a heavy weight match against a toddler, punching the infant, and killing the child to gloat they won the championship. Khasha Zwan's crime was making fun of the Taliban leadership, and thus the terrotist organization according to Patricia Grossman of human rights watch.

A comedian, police officer, and family man. There are videos of Khasha Zwan being slapped with AK-47's being seen in the video. From a westerner point of view how can we believe any of this? The sad answer is we can't. That what makes this so much more tragic. For decades now the modern world has blamed the United States for the war post 9/11 that produced no weapons of mass destruction. Multiple cries from within the U.S. have demanded removal of troops, and from outside. When Hilary Clinton warned withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan would lead to a resurgence of terrorism the world laughed at her. Her only mistake was not saying the truth, and naming the Taliban direct. There was problem some classified security reason she wasn't allowed to. The whole world stands opposed to terrorism , yet the whole world is standing by as the Taliban assert control over Afghanistan and either mourn or celebrate it based on their politics. Regardless of politics the blood flows freely in steady streams from innocent people who just wanted to live free. President Biden has sent an evacuation in to help US diplomants and allies evacuate. I'm feeling a sense of deja-vu, historically, echoing in my mind. Dunkirk!

During World War 2, Hitler's blitzkrieg hit France and the allies catching them by surprise forcing a pitched battle between the allies and Nazi Germany. The allies had accepted they had lost. REsigned to evacuate this force a pitched batte at the French port of Dunkirk. On May 31st, 1940, General Von Kuechler launches an audacious assault to create the necessary time for evacuations. The battles fought between May 31st and June 2nd would see the French hold the line, and by their blood allow the allies to evacuate. Dunkirk showed the staunch resistance to Nazi Germany's tyranny, but by contrast what is the U.S. response under Presidet Biden for an military withdrawn started under President Trump? A commitment of 5000 more troops to speed up evacuations, and strong words. "Any American injury would provoke swift and strong military reprisal." So the greatest nation, the leader of the allied coallition, and President of the U.S. of America has just bargained with terrorist publicly stating this. "If you let our people out we'll allow Afghanistan to conquered by the Taliban terrorist organization." That's the difference between events of Dunkirk and the evacuation of Kabul today.

No moral ground being held, no attempt to save the innocent lives that have nothing to do with American or Taliban politics, and of course nothig but selfish concern from all parties for their goals as innocent blood is shed. No response from a powerless U.N. because one of the vetoing security nations would veto that. Help isn't on the way for Afghanistan, and its future is now Taliban rule. There is no difference between how Nazi Germany governed or how the Taliban will, both groups are genocidal ideological superiorist who see certain human groups as beneath them. What really is stark repitition for me is that the allies saw the rise of Hitler and what was coming, Hillary Clinton saw the return of terrorism and was coming, and everyone ignored both of them and did nothing until it was too late. Dunkirk wasn't an allied victory it was as miracle bought by French sacrifice of blood that invoked a bit of cosmic luck. We shall not be so lucky because we're not making any sacrifice at all. Western forces went into Afghistan under a lie, and now were pulling out under a lie, and lies must always be erradicated by the truth when it's day comes. The evacuation of Kabul for me is the final stroke in the return of the shadow of war, and mark my words we will pay for this lack of vigilance in the long run the same way I've paid for mine during my great depression.
