Is Black Lives Matter important?

Black Lives Matter protests has been going on in America and other parts of the World and people are against it. Here’s my two cents on the matter:

The Black Lives Matter movement is an action taken my Americans to demand justice for the multiple black people killed unnecessarily by racist and negligent policemen. The movement was fuelled by George Floyd. He was a black man who was suspected to have used a fake/blank check to get some groceries. So, the clerk called the police and they did not give him a chance to explain or talk it out. Instead, all four of them pinned him down and put their knees on his back and one on his neck. He pleaded with them to get off him and said that he couldn’t breathe but none of them budged or gave damn. Derek Chauvin was the killer of George Floyd. His knee was on George’s neck for 7 minutes until George passed

This whole thing was caught on camera and it angered the whole world. From America to South Korea, people marched to show their disdain for police brutality. They marched to demand justice for the killings of innocent black people such as Breonna Taylor.

Breonna Taylor

She was an emergency medical technician who was sleeping while four armed officers barged in THE WRONG HOUSE without announcing themselves and shot her eight times in the back. Her boyfriend mistook the police for intruders and he armed himself. Breonna did not do anything wrong. She was just SLEEPING. No matter how you see it, the police are in the wrong. What could be so dangerous about someone sleeping? Many took it online to create hashtags (#breonnataylor and #sayhername) to make sure she wasn’t forgotten and demanded justice for her death.

Next, Aiyana Stanley-Jones is a 9 year-old who was killed in ‘accidentally’ by the police when they barged into a filming set with a ‘no-knock’ warrant. Her grandmother collided with Joseph Weekly, a police officer, and Aiyana was shot in the head. He was charged with involuntary manslaughter but the charges were dropped by a judge. Her family then sued the city and got a $8.25 million settlement.

What reason could police officers have to kill American citizens? Black people are killed even when no wrongdoing has been done. They are INNOCENT. Many Americans are still racist towards black people and call them the n-word because of their ancestors past. White pedophiles and shooters have gotten more respect while being arrested by police.

So, what exactly, if not the crime, is the police looking for in a person to know if they are able to take advantage of the situation?

Why is a shooter being arrested in a peaceful manner plus he received Burger King?

Why was George killed just because he was suspected of using a fake check?

It all comes down to race.

It is important that white people know that they have a privilege. Do you think the angels sated previously would’ve died if hey were white?

HELL NO.

Going out to your driveway, mart or wherever without worrying whether your life will be taken is a privilege. It’s something black people do not have. They do not have the luxury of just talking it out with a police officer when there’s a misunderstanding. They are seen as hostile by racist police officers. That is why the people of America want to defund the police. If you are against it, you’re a racist. There is no middle-ground for racism. You’re either with them or you’re racist. That’s that. It’s time to re-evaluate your values if you’re privileged and are against it. There is no going against basic human rights. THEY JUST DON’T TO BE KILLED.

If you are privileged, please use it to protect those who are not.

There are multiple sources to help the Black Lives Matter movement. Here’s a link to see what you are able to contribute: https://blacklivesmatters.carrd.co

Even if you have no money, you are able to just give 2 minutes of your time to sign an online petition or vote. This movement is very important as it lives at stake. We want a future with no one being killed or prosecuted based on their race. It gives black people basic human rights that we should have already given a long time ago. It’s already 2020. It is time for change.

BLACK LIVES MATTER.

May all of the victims rest in peace. Including the thousands and millions more that I have not mentioned. Our hearts are with you. I pray that you are in a better place watching over your loved ones. My condolences to the families who lost the ones they love to senseless acts of violence.
