Immigration Reform In America - Towards Marriage

As a American citizen I fell in love with a foreign man from Saint Lucia. He is my world, I would risk everything for this man, and he would do anything for me. We have been married for 1 year now.

The controversial topic of immigration reform has been a difference in common for a very long time. I guess when you are married to a man from a different country that opinion becomes a passion of yours. I have bounced from America to Saint Lucia for the last year following marriage to my husband. He knows I have a condition of having bipolar and knows I'm on a treatment that works for me. Though we tried our hardest but the treatment can't be brought to Saint Lucia. My husband assured me we would figure something out. As time goes one. He speaks to me one night when we lived in our first apartment:

Baby I know you need your treatment can you bounce from place to place.

I shook my head, I want a home, I want to be somewhere permanent not bouncing from place to place.

After much talk we figured out we would make sure we file for him so he receives a green card. The filing process is 9-36 months wait.

As we still discuss what we have to do even now it makes me nervous a little. My husband is a chocolate man we are a mixed couple though it's not a big deal in Medina Ohio it is a big deal for some.

What I don't understand is a few things:

1: Why does it have to be 9-36 month wait after filing: Is this a bad thing to make the waiting process shorter instead of longer.

2: Everyone complains about foreigners taking American jobs: I don't like this statement if American's would get off their butts and work hard for what they want like newly adapted citizens would things wouldn't be so difficult. But you have this everywhere you go haters.

3: I don't understand why there are immigration laws: First off the United States was stolen from the Native Americans, secondly, America was then built on immigration welcome. Now there are so many twists and turns for honest happily married folks to be happy together legit. I don't understand this, but I am a humanitarian as far as humanity and animal rights go.

So the reason why I am writing this article is to share my views and thoughts even if they are controversial.

My husband understands I need my treatment so after I file for him goddess willing we will have the money from my businesses to afford a car and eventually an apartment.

This will be hard for me to go back to America while I rent a PO box and wait anxiously for news about his green card. I couldn't afford a immigration lawyer some say it's not necessary to hire one because the process is the same anyways.

Why take families away from each other, I don't understand this. I cried constantly not in the best mental state when I was in my state. The only way to survive in America is to work hard never set on your back side unless you are born with a silver spoon in your mouth.

I think in America some things need to change in Immigration Reform in 2022:

1: When happily married showing proof you are the spouse deserves this: 4 month's before receiving his/her green card. Because families don't deserve to be separated anymore than they have to.

2: A Job's Program nonprofit: Give back to the new welcomed Green Card holders. Show people that American's do have a heart and we can welcome our new comers.

Lee Greenwood paints a great picture of what could be to all people not just people born in America.

My husband says, "my little humanitarian." I want to make a difference.

I think there are a lot of people and animals suffering and we gotta make a difference to this world.

My only hope is maybe make a difference to our world. It's not just about our Earth it's also about the inhabitance too.

Cleveland Ohio when I went back and stayed for 90 days of hell.

What are my hopes for this article? I want it to go viral for my voice to be heard. I learned something throughout all this my husband and I work better together being together. I hope for some changes, and I want to never be afraid to speak my thoughts on controversial topics for the first time I'm not.

Thank you for reading, subscribe, comment, and leave a tip if you want I really want Subway (hehe)

I really enjoyed what you have to say here. I agree with a lot of your views on this. You are correct in that land was stolen from the native Americans and also in the southwest it was taken from Mexicans (and South Americans). My own family was chased out of their homes in what became Texas and California back some 150 years ago or so. Even parts of my family were killed because they did not want to leave their homes. The United States should be ashamed of themselves for this sort of behavior. I feel it is time that the United States began to lead with love, compassion, and intelligence. We do not need to be this hateful greedy nation anymore. Yes, people can't just flow over the border by the millions unfiltered (some say that is happening right now under the Biden administration but I beg to differ). There does need to be a humane way of decreasing the illegal border crossings. But we must also be welcoming and loving to those that did make it here through the proper channels. And those that did cross over illegally well we just can't be hating on them, after all they are God's people also and the biggest reason they are coming over here is because conditions are so horrible from where they come. I can totally understand why someone would be so desperate to desire a better life for themselves and their children. Why hate on that? Come on United States let's grow a heart. Let us be the leaders in compassion. I truly believe that a nation that leads with love, compassion, and intelligence is the nation that is going to succeed far beyond any other nation in the world.

There is a tremendous need for immigration reform. The blame over many decades falls on both political party’s for this failure.
