Cost of Living Coming Down.

Never The Less Families Will Still Struggle.

Protesters Outside Parliament.

The Labour Party has accused the Sunak administration of utter incompetence over prices. This incompetence has left families worse off. Prices are slowing down but households will still struggle apparently.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) is expected to reveal the Consumers Prices Index (CPI) rate of inflation was down to 6.7 % in July.

Sunak has said: "There is light at the end of the tunnel of the cost of living". Labour is accusing the Tories, however, of "13 years of economic chaos". Labour says even if the rate of inflation slows consumers will still be paying 82 Pounds more per week than in 2021/22.

Even if Wishy-Washy-Rishi gets on top of this, one of His 5 pledges, families will still be worse off. Sunak set five pledges but it looks like in the time he has left he will not achieve them. Look a the chaos of 'Stop the Boats'. Factors have conspired to make this policy look very silly indeed. So it seems this is the case too with prices coming down. Yes, prices may be coming down, but in the short term, families will be no better off.

Sunak knows the clock is ticking and his poll ratings along with his party are dire. Short of a miracle, Wishy-Washy, will be going down, to a massive defeat, in 2024's General Election. In all the elections held this year, generally, the Conservatives have performed poorly. Whether in by-elections or the local elections this year, the Tories' ratings have been dire. Yes, they retained Johnson's old seat of Uxbridge, but, by a narrow margin. Much was made of Labour not attaining this seat. However, Labour narrowly missed capturing this seat. So in my opinion, the fact that Labour came very narrow to unseating the Tories should be cause for optimism. Especially in the seat (Uxbridge) of one-time populist and Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

Energy prices are coming down or so we are led to believe. Blaming them on the war between Russia and Ukraine is a legitimate and a factful statement.

However, the government has been too quick to blame all of the country's ills on this conflict. Sunak, despite, the government's pledge to cut emissions is granting licenses to oil and gas companies. To exploit the Rosebank oil and gas field in the North Sea.

Sunak must be deluded if he thinks this will bring down bills in the long term. He may mean well and may have taken advice about this. However, will it make Britain, energy independent? Probably not, according to those in the know. It will, however, line the pockets of the owners of these companies. Also, the overpaid management sitting in their stratospheric ivory towers.

Though the government may paint this as helping the country and the consumer, it will not. It's all about the Tories cuddling up to the people who support them and donate. The Tories try (either genuinely, cynically, or both) to reach out to those beyond the usual Tory 'at the top' voters. And there are 'working class' Tories. However, at the end of the day, the Tories are returning to their billionaire supporters. Hoping there will be enough of them around as well as working-class Tories (are they deluded?) to get them back into No 10.

Sunak himself has few supporters in his party outside of his cabinet. Some of them, perhaps, would put the knife in, (as Sunak did to Johnson) metaphorically. If Sunak loses the next election particularly, then putting the knife in is a given.

However, Sunak would still stay on as the leader, no doubt, in opposition, until a new leader is elected. Would the Tories boot him out this far nearer the general election? Some may want to but would hesitate as chopping and changing leaders can be damaging politically. So given this situation it is unlikely the Tories will get Sunak out.

Meanwhile, the country carries on going to hell in a handcart. Under this out-of-touch, out-of-time, inept, uncaring, and criminal regime. 13 years in power is too long to be in power. And, hopefully, 13 years may be the bad luck this government has attracted to see them kicked out of power next year.
