ALL HAIL THE “DEMOCRACY”

The Subjects are Dead, Long Lives Gluttony

In case one has zeal to dig a tad deeper, one can unfold the layers of patch-work, strategically carved into the top-democracies of world. Extrinsically these nations may hail themselves to be structured on citizen-will and as governments, “of the people, by the people and for the people”, yet, in case some valiant-soul makes an endeavor to lift the veil of such authorities, harsh realities hit hard. The regulated manipulation, which commences from the inception of election process, culminates in a collaboration of such homogenous groups, aiming solely for their own alleviation and making the best out for their generations to come. Consequently, not only the elements of “for” and “of” “the people” are lost in time; rather, these government are no longer “by” the people. On the contrary, politics becomes a family run business, wherein wealth and resources are amassed to elevate individuals’ generations to come. This in turn, leads to an establishment of secreted monarchy under the garb of democracy. Common man is, seemingly left, unaware, wanting and struggling to build golden pyramids for these “un-chosen” monarchs, whilst his own family suffers under the weight of these structures.

What can better illustrate the gluttony of these nominated that in even in ongoing epoch of pandemic, while a common man struggles for a breath of air, monarch enjoys a lavish meal in his palace. On one hand, there are millions who struggle to avail the facilities of medicine, vaccination, oxygen, etc., there are others, who have no dearth of such supplies. In fact, they have stock-piled the last reserves of breath and vaccinations, meant for those who conferred them with these luxuries, in first place. In fact, they all are immune, not only to others’ sufferings, rather, from the virus. They were the first in line to opt for the best of drugs, medi-care and vaccination. The virus will not hurt them. There with the antibodies against the virus as well as persistent cries for help, these kings and queens are ready to pass the beacon in the coming election to their “own-elected ones”. On the other hand, there are wails; cries and call for help, however, to no avail. Alas! the walls of the citadels of these self-proclaimed kings and queens are too thick to carry voices of their masses to their sensitive ears. Maybe their cries and call for support even in these strenuous times are an inconvenience to their lifestyles. Monarch has his aspirations set elsewhere, maybe on the next pompous spectacle called as “Election” awaits. Indeed, the sovereign has not forgotten to appreciate that the people are awaiting another theatrics and he has a higher expectation to fulfill next time. Monarch also understands that the deaths, wails, scarring of minds and bodies would be soon forgotten for the next stagecraft would be even more grandiose. A few tears here, a few wails there, for the next display is all that takes to mesmerize the already lost-generation of common people. The elects had their way this time and the next time, they would pave way for their progeny.

Common man, in his pursuit for last breath, at last, focuses his vision on the king’s coffers, filled with wealth and luxuries amassed from the taxes and donations of “John Doe”. There is a dying hope that ultimately the sacrosanct task, call for duty and the responsibility towards the governed would awaken the king for his slumber. Maybe the realization towards the position that he folds, would awaken a sense of realization. However, the monarch had already planned out the expenses. How can he alter his plans to meet such trivial needs? How can anyone even have this unreasonable expectation out of him? Why should he be expected to modify the plan for a bigger apartment, for bigger car, luxuries for these “numerous inferiors”? Time and God has been extremely unfair to the sovereign. It was “his money”, “his coffers”, his “hard earned” wealth, which expected to be expended for the masses. How unfair this bargain is? He obviously did not choose to be in such a place and no-one can persuade or force him to work against his will. Let them pass away. If their immunities and bodies were not strong despite years of tortures and atrocities, their lives were never worth it, anyway. As the monarch ponders over these difficult choices and makes a decision not to succumb to these ‘unjust pressure’, his subjects take their last breaths. Even after their demises, they know that a next battle to secure a burial place would commence. However, that would be an encounter for the surviving to take care of. They would have by then, left their bodily confines and with it, take a part of so called withering democracy. Gluttony wins over all battles of life and death. Subjects are gradually wilting from, both, their insides and outs. The spectacle will be next witnessed by numerous souls, who would hail for the present democracy. Hence, this cycle will continue, both in this world and that beyond it.
