A Reflection of a year of unrest

The year of 2020

The most painful year, to say the least, see the silverling before the people start coming t me as if I am not expressing my pain. I am a black woman, I have black children, and the world that I see around me is not what I want my children to grow up in yet be apart of such hate. I practice love, kindness, and patience with my children. I don't want them to grow up hating anyone, primarily because of their skin color. Where are we safe as black people? Black people are continually broke down to less than our white counterparts. Which is a tactic to make the other person feel superior because our black lives scare them that we would be somehow become "superior" to them? A saying goes, "You fear what you don't understand." To just try to get to know us as people, you will see the perception taught or thoughts is utterly wrong for the majority.

In my opinion, not most of our nationality is that we are requesting to become superior to white people. We simplify trying to receive the same treatment that you treat others that skin is not different from yours. The sad part about all of this is that the people are very aware that racism is alive and well in our country and turn a blind eye; why? A conversation about how black people are treated differently than white people is an uncomfortable conversation to have with white people, let alone have with anyone. Also, another reason could be white people can not have an in-depth discussion about racism. All black people want to talk about is how to address it and, most of all, a plan to fix it; in the United States, then the problem will eventually be more than the current state the country is currently paying attention too.

Defunding the police, in my opinion, is not the way to go about fixing the problems. I think the law needs to make more presence for good reasons in the communities they are protecting and serving instead of harass and arresting the people. Yes, I know some crimes can't all end without violence. However, watching police worldwide use "excessive" force, they haven't held accountable. Accountability is the first step in maintaining our police officers responsible for their actions. Training needs to be re-evaluated and not more aggressive, like sending some officers overseas to train them and then sending them back here (allegedly).

These body cams mean nothing; they can turn them off, and that should be a violation. What is the purpose of having body cams if the police themselves can turn it off? How can we trust investigations that are done by internal affairs? I have so many questions about this system. Black Code laws stated that confederate soldiers decided to work in places like the police, judges, lawyers, and other authoritative positions during the Jim Crow laws. In my conspiracy theory, it is clear or thought that racist found the control for the people with no regard for any human life that does not look like them. By signing up for jobs, they can legally enslave minorities without being hidden behind robes. The systematic racism that black people refer to when they say there are two Americans and black people are not apart of the free land. What do you think about George Floyd, the protest, and defunding the police? Also, what are your thoughts about Breonna Taylor as well? 2020 has been a year to wake up and actually have these discussions hopefully to come to a common medium to co-exist with each other peacefully. I would love to hear your opinions below.
