What is an NFT game land? Basically, it’s a digital picture of a land in a game.

This is probably the part where you go, “Like are you okay?” I wouldn’t be surprised if the NFT lands actually go up by 10x or maybe even 100x; at least as the metaverse becomes more important in our daily lives.

Ever since Facebook changed it’s name to Meta; everyone and their Mak Ciks (aunties) are now talking about virtual items. The point is that the gold rush is here! What’s cool is that we are still very early into the game of buying virtual lands.

In his YouTube, Chun Weng shared his top 5 picks of NFT game lands.

1. Axie Infinity

If you’ve never heard about Axie infinity, it is a crypto-Pokemon game. It’s probably the most popular crypto game in the world right now.

People buy these “cute-looking” Axies, play with them, and then make money with in-game tokens called SLP. It’s kind of like Mesos from MapleStory.

So back to NFT game lands. How much will a piece of land in Axie Infinity cost? There are actually five types of land in Axie Infinity:

  1. Savannah
  2. Forrest
  3. Arctic
  4. Mystic
  5. Genesis

The cheapest type of land is Savannah and so forth. Genesis is the most expensive piece of land.

The question is,

Why would Axie Infinity lands be a good form of investment?

There are three reasons for this.

  1. You’re probably thinking to yourself, “The land prices are already really expensive and overpriced, and there’s no point for you to actually invest in all these lands anymore.” However, sources have mentioned that about 3 out of 4 batches of lands have yet to be released and will actually be released soon.
  2. Axie Infinity’s player base is continuously increasing every single day. When Chun Weng first started, there were about 80,000 players. Now there are about 8 million players and that’s like 100 times growth!
  3. There have been many announcements on the importance of land. Gameplay involving land will become more and more important. Furthermore, combine that with major FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) for the Metaverse.

2. Big Time

The second NFT land is Big Time. Big Time is one of the most anticipated play-to-earn games in the world right now, because the team is of super super high quality.

The team has worked on amazing titles like Fortnight, World of Warcraft, League of Legends, and quite a few more that you would probably recognize. It also helps that the CEO of Big Time was the founder of Decentraland.

The game is going to be an MMORPG like World of Warcraft and Maplestory. That means you can play with your friends, go on adventures, and take on quests. The story focuses heavily on time travel adventures. Each player will actually have their own time machine, which is so freaking cool!

The game was released sometime this year (2022) and you’ll also be able to get Big Time tokens from owning lands called Space, which will be a very important thing as well. There are three reasons you should consider Big Time:

  1. Space’s functions. Space can help you earn more Big Time tokens and then more NFTs. In other words, they’ll help you to make more money in the game and also in real life because it’s play-to-earn.
  2. The developer team.
  3. Because of the game itself and its focus on the community. The game looks really good and the soundtrack just sounds amazing!

3. The Sandbox

The third land that I would like to introduce to you is The Sandbox. The Sandbox doesn’t just have lands but they actually have lands that are owned by some of the biggest companies and brands in the world: Atari, South China Morning Post, the Walking Dead, and Snoop Dogg.

The Sandbox is called The Sandbox because you get to create whatever it is that you want with the land that you own. You can have people come to your land, play games on your land, and then earn from those games as well. It doesn’t just stop there! You can even have people watch advertisements and movies on your land.

The only thing that’s stopping you is really just your imagination. To sum it up, it’s sort of like Minecraft or Roblox but in the Metaverse with blockchain technology, etc.

When it comes to buying lands in The Sandbox, you want to make sure that you take into consideration two important factors:

  1. Make sure that your piece of land is close to a very popular spot. For example, if you had bought a piece of land beside Snoop Dogg, you would have been able to sell it for a crazy high price.
  2. The size of your land. The larger the size, the more things you can build on it. Then you can sell it for a much higher price or earn more money with that piece of land as well.

Now, why would it be a good idea to invest in The Sandbox lands? There are three reasons:

  1. There is a lot of value in getting these lands, because you can build so many things on them. You can do advertisements on them, make games on them, and then charge people to play those games on your land.
  2. The Sandbox lands are also becoming really popular. There are some amazing partnerships for The Sandbox, like with Snoop Dogg, the Walking Dead, Dead Mouse, etc.
  3. It is becoming more and more of a company trend to buy virtual lands, and The Sandbox is definitely the preferred platform right now.

4. Decentraland

The fourth piece of land is Decentraland. In every huge industry, there is a Pepsi versus Coke or Maxis versus Digi. As for Decentraland, it is sort of like The Sandbox’s biggest competitor. Both are equally as good but they do have different visuals and depending on which you would prefer.

In Decentraland, lands are divided into parcels and estates parcels:

  • Parcels are sort of like smaller pieces of lands, and
  • Estates are like larger pieces of lands.

Hence, why should you consider investing in Decentraland, or the metaverse for that matter?

  1. Just like The Sandbox, you can build things on your land and generate extra passive income with whatever that you’ve built on your land.
  2. It is the partnerships that Decentraland has built with. For example, brands like Paris Hilton and Dead Mouse were associated with Decentraland at one point.
  3. It is becoming more and more of a trend for big companies to buy up virtual lands.
  4. It is a very good way for you to reduce your risk and diversify your holdings into both The Sandbox and Decentraland.

5. Illuvium

The fifth land is Illuvium. Illuvium is another crypto-pokemon kind of game, except that it is being produced by a AAA Game Studio and it looks absolutely freaking, amazing.

Illuvium is expected to be released sometime around this year, 2022 and it’s probably one of the most anticipated games out there. It’s one of those auto-battle games where you collect Illuvials or Pokemons and then they’ll auto battle in arenas. Winners will then be able to win Ethereum as a result of winning from the battles.

Here are a few reasons why you would want to purchase Illuvium land.

  1. It’ll help the players to make more money from the game. It is said that with land, you can generate about 5% extra earnings from mining resources around your land. With stronger resources, you can use them to catch stronger Illuvials or crypto-Pokemons.
  2. The co-founders, Kieran Warwick and Aaron Warwick are pretty solid. The community is also very strong and they have a strong network of A-list influencers in the crypto space. They made a few custom-made Illuvium cards for a few crypto influencers as well.
  3. They have a solid team of investors: Sebastian, the founder of The Sandbox or Jason Troy, the founder of Spartan Capital.
