Wesley: The Kid from Arlington

This past Saturday, I received something that I've been wanting for months. That was the newest Texas Rangers City Connect jersey (shown above). I'll discuss more about it in a moment. Back in late April, the team debuted their new uniforms, which celebrated Mexican culture, in time for their three-game series matchup against the Athletics. When images of the new uniforms were made public on social media, the reactions were mixed. Most of the reactions were negative, with one saying that they didn't say Arlington across the jersey. I agreed with the commenter's assessment. Better yet, it should've said something like American Dream City or Dream City across the jersey and patterns that resembled something inspired by Six Flags Over Texas, which is located not too far from Globe Life Field and a bit closer from their old ballpark, The Ballpark in Arlington (now Choctaw Stadium).

When I tried on my new jersey this past Saturday, it looked great on me. I wore my new City Connect hat with it. I took a few pictures of me in them, including a video I made. Actually, I made two different Texas Rangers City Connect Hype videos (one after the release of the new uniforms and one this past weekend. You can view both of them at the end of this story.

Going back to the jersey: I got it from eBay for a reasonable price. Was it the best jersey, authentic wise? No, but that's okay. It's not fake, either. I plan on buying a much better City Connect jersey at a later time. I wasn't going to pay almost $200 for a jersey. However, there are some sites that sell jerseys for way less. Sites like Jersey Depot and Just Baseball are places to start. Not all baseball fans can afford a jersey that costs almost $200. I have several Rangers jerseys: some from Fanatics and three of them from eBay. People can afford to purchase jerseys that can fit their budgets. So, we have to stop jersey shaming (I came up with a new phrase) others because they are unable to splurge an amount of money to buy one of the most important articles of clothing. As you can see in this picture used for this story, I'm posing in my new jersey, wearing my hat, kneeling while holding a baseball bat. Also, I'm wearing jeans and cowboy boots. If you've read my story reviewing my City Connect gear, you probably have noticed the change in wardrobe. The boots in this photo are brand new and bought them recently. I prefer this picture better than the previous one. I hope to attend a Friday night game the next time I visit Arlington before the season is over. For my loyal subscribers and readers, y'all know that I love going back home to enjoy myself. If I do end up visiting Arlington within the next few weeks and attending a game, it would be the first one in 25 years. I might attend another one the following day. Who knows. For now, I'm loving this new look.

Wearing a Rangers jersey is like putting on a superhero cape. I've been a fan for nearly 25 years and everyone already knows this fact. No matter how long you've been a fan of your favorite team, there's no denying that we love supporting them, win or lose. Pairing a jersey with a hat to go with any outfit is total chef's kiss.
