Being Unapologetically Comfortable in My Own Skin

The one article of clothing that gives me a confidence boost

By Mark Wesley Pritchard Published about a month ago 3 min read

For years, I struggled with body image issues and felt insecure about myself. Now, I'm slowly having the confidence to show off my body and not comparing myself to others, appearance wise. The one article of clothing that I love the most and proud to show off is not a baseball jersey While I love wearing them, I'm talking about a pair of underwear. Today, August 5, is an important day for those who love sporting them. Annually on this date, it celebrates confidence and comfort. National Underwear Day was created in 2003 by the retailer Freshpair. There are brands for both men and women that are available, such as Hanes, Pair of Thieves, Victoria's Secret, and Jockey. Plus, there are discounts on your favorite brands, which saves you a bit of money. I have a plethora of pairs of underwear from different brands with the likes of Pair of Thieves, Nads, Jockmail, and Levi's. I started posting underwear pics on social media several years ago. My weight has gone up and down over the years and there was a time that I stopped doing it for a while. Now, I chose not to care what others think about my size. I'm getting a little bit better of taking my health more seriously. It's not to say that I've been neglecting it. I'm nearing 40 and making sure that I'm active multiple times a week. I returned to the gym recently for the first time in several months, due to me having a hectic work schedule and feeling tired almost every day.

Let's talk about this picture used for this story. That's me, of course and took this photo this morning. I'm wearing a Texas Rangers hat and a pair of Rangers underwear from Pair of Thieves. I apologize if it's hard for everyone to see the design of my underwear. This brand has different designs to choose from, including from your favorite Major League Baseball team. One main reason why I chose to purchase a pair from Pair of Thieves is because they give back to important causes, such as crisis intervention for LGBTQ+ youth. I have two pairs of Rangers underwear and in the picture shown above is one of them. Whenever I post an underwear pic on social media, people love it. Someone told me one time that I should become an underwear model. I don't know about that and never had a thought of becoming as such. If the opportunity came and men of all sizes were included, then yes, I would do it. Also, I floated around the idea of having a social media page dedicated only to me wearing underwear from different brands. I haven't decided on that yet, but if I were to do it, would everyone follow it? Let me know in the comments below.

If you're a man and seeking for other brands of underwear to purchase, there's 2xist and SAXX Underwear. The latter brand featured athletes such as retired MLB player and World Series champion Jake Arrieta wearing pairs of their underwear. Just to remind you that certain brands of underwear might be out of your price range, but if you're willing to spend a little more, go for it.

In closing, no matter if you're a man, woman, trans, non-binary, or other, be confident in yourself and show off that pair of underwear. Love the skin that you're in and ignore the naysayers. Confidence is sexy, so own it.
