Whether you need them in your everyday life for vision or just want a new accessory, finding the right eyewear can be a challenge. From finding the right rims to trying out colored lenses, there are a variety of personal styles to choose from. With changing trends and dozens of options, it can be challenging, but there are a few easy steps you can take to effortlessly take your glasses game to a whole new level.

Consider Your Face Shape

If there’s one thing we all need to consider when it comes to purchasing new glasses, it’s our face shape. Face shape plays an important factor in what glasses work best for you and highlight your look.

Oval Face

If you have an oval-shaped face, glasses with a strong bridge and average-sized frames work best. This is a more balanced face shape, so a variety of glasses work well, but be careful to not get over-sized glasses. Oversized glasses will throw off your naturally balanced face shape and be distracting.

Round Face

For those with a rounder-shaped face, it’s best to choose glasses that will balance your proportions. That means opting for square or rectangular glasses that are wider than your face. You should avoid small frames, rimless glasses, and round shaped glasses to prevent making your face look more round.

Heart-Shape Face

Heart-shaped faces have a larger forehead and narrower chin, so the glasses to opt for should add volume to the narrower part of your face. Round glasses draw attention away from the forehead and can balance out your face shape, but be sure to avoid glasses that have decorative additions to the top of the lenses.

Remember Your Colors + Patterns

If you’re wearing glasses everyday, you’ll want them to be a color you love. There are endless colors to choose from when it comes to frames and arms, so don’t limit yourself. It’s important to have a basic, everyday pair of glasses that go with everything. Statement pieces are great for a fun date night, but they’re not for everyday wear.

But don’t be afraid to switch things up and add a pop of color or a fun print. Neon is in and always makes a statement, or you can choose to go with animal-print for something a tad more subdued but still unique and fashionable.

Figure Out What Lenses You Want

There has been so much innovation when it comes to lenses. Blue light, yellow, bifocals, and more are all readily at your fingertips to choose from, should you need them, and they do wonders protecting your eyes.

Blue light lenses are great for those who work in front of a computer all day. Yellow lenses can enhance vision in low-light or hazy conditions, and they’re used by many outdoor sport athletes. Aspheric and high-index lenses are a great alternative to thicker prescription lenses because they’re thinner and not as bulky as other lenses.

Are They for Fashion or Function?

Fashion vs. function has been a long-standing debate for years, but much like watches, glasses are the perfect combination of the two. If you just want glasses for a little extra pop of style, you don’t have to worry about spending lots of money with prescription lenses, and there’s a bit more freedom to explore.

If you do need glasses for vision, don’t be afraid to go outside of your comfort zone with some styles, but stick to rims and lenses that work well on your face shape and don’t distract too much.

Think About Your Lifestyle

Eyewear can be used in a variety of situations. Beach days, the office, a night out, weddings, and so many other occasions require stylish eyewear. Consider your lifestyle when purchasing new eyewear. These sustainable Aventura sunglasses are perfect for sunny days at the beach and some even come with prescription lenses. Or go for some traditional frames and simple rims for a chic look at the office.

No matter your eyewear preference, be sure to purchase glasses you’ll love to wear and go well with your style.
