So where is the help?

Freedom. What a taken for granted word. Freedom isn't missed until it is taken away. Freedom means being able to make your own choices in life, to come and go as you please, say what you like, and to raise your family and be with your partner in peace. The Ukrainian people are now in a position of having no freedom whatsoever. They don't even have the freedom to decide how to die.

As precious as freedom is, I cannot understand how the entire world can watch what is happening and do so little. We give them money but they can't shoot down tanks with money, and nobody that is a UN country is going to send tanks and planes to help the Ukrainians. The sad thing is that in return for their nuclear property, we gave our word to keep them safe and defend them if something were to happen. Yet, we aren't there, and neither is any other country in the UN watching this unfold.

The saddest and most revolting happening of the war was when Russia bombed a children's hospital where only women and children would be occupying the premises. As a leader of a country, I could not sit on my morals and do nothing after that happened. Even a country who didn't agree to provide defense if something like a war happened should be enraged enough to step up and do something. The innocents should be protected, and when they can't have the freedom to feel safe in a children's hospital, then other countries need to step up and do something. In a world where most countries believe in peace, how can this happen? Our President is showing no signs of keeping his agreement with Ukraine, defending them, because he fears it could start a third world war with Russia. A personal opinion is that when a wrong is being committed, the only way to stop it is to group together and fight back. If the United States, Britain, Germany, and any other country with a sense of morals would step up and fight Russia, my guess is they would run like cowards. As the saying goes, evil thrives when good men do nothing.

The only freedom the Ukrainian people have is to decide whether to try and flee to Poland, or to stay and fight and possibly lose their lives. Even then, many of those fleeing to Poland were killed in the process, but at least they had one last freedom, to decide to try and save their own lives.

This story is supposed to be about freedom, but the people of Ukraine are in peril, constantly on my mind, and they have no freedom, and, the countries in the UN won't help unless the country being attacked is part of the UN. I believe that is inhumane, and the UN needs to reassess their purpose and actually get things done. In my opinion, Donald Trump had it right when he said the UN was worthless.

Young men and women in this country have gone to war for centuries to protect our freedom. The civil war was fought to release the slaves, and to return their freedom to them. I have the freedom to go to school, work, stay home, create, and do almost anything I chose to do and all I have to do is put in the effort. I have a hot bath, soap, clean water, good food, a warm bed that isn't shared with five other people, and I have freedom. The people in Ukraine have none of those things, and they have no power, heat, clean water or food. They have nothing.

If I had one wish, I would implore the world to stop watching and start helping the Ukrainian people, because their country could be next with a lunatic like Putin in charge. Whether they belong to the UN or not, all countries and all peoples are entitled the life, food, clean water, and a safe place to live. No country should ever have to endure what the Ukrainian people have endured. Nobody.
