When I was a kid, one of my favorite parts of Christmas was the milk and cookies. Unfortunately, I never got to do the homemade sugar cookies. I never got to do the homemade dough, rolling it out, cutting them with cookie cutters, and decorating them. My mom was always too busy. So, she would pick up a bag of Mrs. Fields whenever she went to the mall. Those cookies did not last long. Come Christmas Eve, there would usually only be one cookie left for Santa and half a glass of milk. Those are fond memories of my childhood.

One of my biggest takeaways from having to stay home for nine months is that alcohol is wildly overrated. I've never been much of a fan to begin with, but, in your twenties and thirties, drinking just sort of comes with the territory if you want to spend time with people. You and your friends go to bars, or house parties, or boozy brunches, or painting classes that serve wine, or places where you can inexplicably throw axes and drink alcohol at the same time. You toss back some champagne at weddings and New Year's Eve parties, maybe do a shot or two to celebrate a work promotion. You meet first dates at bars because you know you'll both need to calm your nerves, and nothing fills an awkward silence like taking a sip from your glass and asking how each other's drinks are. It gets exhausting. And alcohol usually doesn't even taste that good!
Jess GoodwinPublished 3 years ago in ProofAs Far as Anyone Knows, I Don’t Drink Alcohol
Christmas is a stressful time of year: gifts, concerts, Santa visits, baking . . . the list goes on and on and on and on . . . you get it. It seems everyday there’s a new activity added to the long standing traditions of years gone by. Sure, this year all the events are taking place at home, via Zoom, Facetime or some other social distancing unifying technology, but our calendars are still crammed with expectations.

When the new kosher Israeli grocery store opened, I was in heaven. Before, there had been plenty of kosher food that was available at different places, but nothing out of the ordinary. This store was gourmet.

There is a fairly strong divide between beverage professionals and those who work in the service industry. Is it okay to drink on the job? Some people and companies are staunchly against it, while some bartenders will down a shot every now and then when they’re “in the weeds”. That being said, everyone usually comes together to tip back a few drinks together after closing. If you’ve had a good night, maybe just a glass of wine after your shift. If it’s been a bad night, you might choose something stronger. For me? I would always go to the bar next door, sit at the bar, and order a glass of blanc de blancs champagne (we should note this establishment added this to their glass pours solely because I came in at least five evenings a week to imbibe and wind down).

No one remembers the first time they had a bowl of popcorn. At least no one I met yet. However, most people do remember the first time they went to the movies.

The Perfect Two: Chocolate Covered Cherries and Red Wine
Chocolate covered cherries and red wine are the perfect pairing. This is a spin on the classic chocoate covered strawberries. We all know that strawberries are an aphrodisiac, so it's a pairing that I offten have with wine. Chocolate covered strawberries are a staple for Valentines's day as a gift of love an admiration, It's romantic! Is chocolate also an aphrodisiac ? no. But is is so tasty you can cover almost anything in chocolate and make it twice as delicious. No wonder we have fountains dedicated to chocolate, and again it's a romantic sweet treat that we can enjoy to sweeten our world. We can all use more romance in our lives after-all.

Pairing Wines to my Top Songs on Spotify Wrapped 2020.
If 2020 did one thing right, it was give us all more time to appreciate a lot of the things we often took for granted before. For me, the two main things I most definitely took for granted would have to be Spotify and fine dining.
Ciarán ColemanPublished 3 years ago in Proof Whisky or Whiskey – Does it Matter?
If you’ve ever been to a liquor store, you’ve probably noticed the inconsistent spelling of the word ‘whisky.’ Some add in the ‘e’ while others don’t, which has led to more confusion – and arguments – than you may expect.
