Obviously, alcohol does not factor in a keto diet because of its high carb content. But you should not deny yourself of everything as it also tends to result in bingeing and breaking the diet.

So, occasionally, you are allowed to cheat and enjoy your life. Just be sure to cut off some of the usual food items in your daily carb allowance.

The secret to making keto cocktails is to cut off any sugar source without totally altering the original recipe so you keep the taste but get off the sugar in it.

French 75

French 75 was developed in the 1920s but was properly documented in that name in the 1930s. It has nothing to do with the French and why it was originally called 75 by the Harry MacElhone was beyond me. It was popularized in New York and appeared in some movies.

The classic French 75 is made with champagne, lemon juice, sugar and ice. The original recipe has 202 calories coming from the champagne and sugar with 14.6g of carbs. This recipe has 157 calories but only 2g of carbohydrates. The keto recipe swapped the sugar with erythritol which is a zero carb sweetener.

Irish Cold Brew

The traditional Irish cold brew was first made in the mid-19th century with Irish whiskey hot coffee, fresh cream and brown sugar. It has 345 calories and has 24 grams of carbs for every 12 oz of this cocktail.

The keto version, however, has just 90 calories and just 4 grams of sugar per 12oz serving. Use sugar-free sweetener instead of the brown sugar. Also, use sugar-free heavy cream to make it creamy but not sinful. At least in the Keto dieter’s dictionary.

Strawberry Basil Lemon Drop

One 6-oz serving of the original strawberry lemon drop has a whopping 505 calories with 55 grams of carbs, 43 grams of which from sugars. In the skinny version, though, it has 150 calories and 17 grams of carbs.

The carbs here are way too high for a keto diet but if you cut all the other sources of carbs for the day, then it will fit perfectly into your daily carb allowance.

Strawberry Mint Smash

Organic strawberries since vodka is a solvent that dissolves everything including pesticides in the strawberries. Choose vodka that has been distilled 8 times or more for less chances of a hangover.

The original recipe has a total of 100 calories but the sugar content is high at 24 grams. The keto version, however, has no added sugar and the used club soda instead of the usual lime soda.

Apple Moscow Mule

This recipe uses apple cider vinegar which I personally would think unusual but after drinking this cocktail, I cannot tell that there is vinegar in it. Everything has very little sugar, in fact, only the apple cider vinegar has any trace of sugar and that’s a very negligible 0.9 gram per 100ml of the vinegar.

Low-carb Pina colada

This recipe used unsweetened coconut milk which has absolutely no sugar while the unsweetened pineapple grams of sugar per 1 ounce. By limiting the pineapple juice and using coconut milk, the sugar is limited to a minimum. Still, if you put in 2 ounces of pineapple juice, it still amounts to 8 grams per serving.

Keto Bloody Mary

Swap tomato juice with tomato sauce because tomato juice has lots of sugar in it. Also, use low-sugar versions of the pickles and go slow with the Worcestershire sauce. The original version has as much as 16 grams of sugars while the skinny version has just 7 grams of sugars.

Fruity Mojito

This refreshing fruity mojito skips the regular lemon lime soda and goes with the diet version to keep up with the keto guidelines. Go slow with the kiwi since one medium fruit has 11 grams of carbs although the strawberry has very nil carbs on its own. Skip the sugar, instead use liquid stevia.

Blueberry Mint Mojito

Blueberries are high in fiber but unfortunately, it is also high in sugars. Half a cup of blueberries has 7 grams of sugar. Be sure to limit all other sources of carb in the cocktail to keep up with the keto guidelines. Use zero sugar sweeteners.

Conclusion

Life must go on even if you are on a diet. In fact, the purpose of going on a diet is to reclaim your health so you can live your life as you see fit. However, if you are not too conscious with your weight but still want to stay on the good side of the scale, these fruit and herb flavored cocktails may be good for you.

Another cocktail you may want to try is the chocolate cocktails which are heart-healthy as long as you keep the alcohol on the moderate side. And by moderate, that’s just one serving per day.
