I've Been Matched!

Can you believe it? A dating site that picks a love match for you by simply taking a quiz as to your taste in wine? The way they say it works is the pairing supposes you to have a certain "taste" that is similar to your favorite wine with those qualities or characteristics in those of your profile picks and vice versa. They (the other participants) have also been matched to you using the same quiz. I suppose it's like a perfect pairing, right? Sort of like which wines go with which particular cheese. In this case, the men are the wines and the women are the cheese. In any case, it sounded like it would be fun. So, I did it!

As it turned out, my taste was for the Medium Reds. It's true! I do like rich and savory...in men or in wine or foods. I don't like either being too sweet or too spicy...just a little salt so I can fully appreciate their natural flavors. And I have to admit, I am drawn to men who love their steak and potatoes, just as the chart said I would. Crazy as it seems, I have a shellfish allergy and I am not a great fan of fish, either...especially raw fish! Maybe this dating match was going to work after all...but what exactly is "gorgonzola" cheese?

After looking it up, it is most notably like the "blue cheese" dressing that goes well with wings (or in fancier places to eat, often associated with a Roquefort salad.) And, delightfully... I found out that this particular type of cheese starts out being soft and creamy when young, but as it matures, the flavor becomes stronger and has a piquant (provocative and stimulating) bite for its partakers. That pretty much sums up my personality, too.

So, on to my matches. There are four to begin with, but they are just samples to show you how your personal picks will be most similar to your "models." Each man in these models was chosen because they were from the same regions as the wines you like the most. And my date would be comparable in personality and background to these men. But it would be my choice. Sweet!

First was Mr. Cabernet Sauvignon from Chile:

Profile: businessman and politician, loves soccer, has a passion for history, conservative leader, humanitarian, and loves big families.

Second was Mr. Red Blend from Paso Robles, California:

Profile: Athletic and musical, loves to cook and travel. Very private. Loves dogs and has a winery.

Third was Mr. Tempranillo (full-bodied red wine) from La Mancha, Spain:

Profile: lawyer, university professor, politician, author. Enjoys show jumping horse shows. Spanish Peoples Party Leader...socialist.

And, lastly: Mr. Merlot from North Coast, California:

Profile: Actor, Director, Producer. Rebel...speaks his mind! Avid golf player, former pub owner, former mayor of Carmel, Ca., pilot, and practices positive health-awareness with proper nutrition and moderation. Libertarian beliefs.

Although, each of these men/wines were extremely interesting and appealing to me, my very favorite was a good glass of Merlot. Clint Eastwood certainly personifies the man I would want to date. So, I choose number four! He (or someone like him) and I have the most in common...I have libertarian beliefs, I like golf, I speak my mind. There's something about pilots that turn me on, too...I like the way they think. They are detailed and sure of themselves. Dinner will be a great steak, with humorous conversation, and a bottle of Merlot. (I'll keep the details to myself, though...ssshhhh.)
