Professional Golfers

American professional golfer John Daly has a drink named after him called The John Daly. It is a combination of sweet tea and lemonade with a shot of vodka.

Another professional golfer Arnold Palmer invented his drink himself which is a combination of sweet tea and lemonade that he enjoys having at home. When he ordered this drink at a bar, a lady overheard it and she asked for the same, calling it The Palmer Drink. In some parts of the US, it is referred to as Half & Half.

Hollywood

Mary Pickford, a silent film star has the Mary Pickford Cocktail named after her. It is a drink made with white rum, pineapple juice, grenadine, and maraschino liqueur. The drink is shaken with ice and served in a cocktail glass.

Actress Jean Harlow was the original platinum blonde in Hollywood. The Jean Harlow Cocktail is a mix of light rum shaken with sweet vermouth and served with a garnish of lemon peel.

Ginger Rogers, a Hollywood actress, singer, and dancer was best known for partnering Fred Astaire in the movies. The Ginger Rogers Cocktail is a combination of gin, ginger ale, lemon juice, fresh ginger or syrup and mint. It was invented in the Prohibition Years and since then has gone through variations.

Famous Hollywood screen cowboy Will Rogers has a cocktail named after him. The Will Rogers Cocktail is a mix of dry vermouth, orange juice, and a dash of Curacao.

Early Hollywood actor Douglas Fairbanks was known as "The King Of Hollywood" The Douglas Fairbanks Cocktail is a modified martini that is a combination of Plymouth gin, French vermouth, and garnished with both lemon and orange peels.

Popular actress Joan Collins from the TV series "Dynasty" has a cocktail named after her. The Joan Collins Cocktail is a mix of vodka, grapefruit juice, sugar, and club soda. The drink gets served in a Collins glass.

Popular silent film era actor, comedian, and filmmaker Charlie Chaplin had a drink named after him in the early 20th century at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City. The Charlie Chaplin Cocktail is a mix of equal parts of sloe gin, lime juice, and apricot brandy.

Even cute child actress Shirley Temple has a non-alcoholic cocktail named after her. It was the creation of a bartender at Chasen's, a restaurant in California. Invented in the 1930s it was meant to be served to kids at parties since it contained no alcohol. One version of The Shirley Temple Cocktail is Sprite or 7-Up with grenadine syrup and garnished with a maraschino cherry.

In the 1990s the cocktail The Cosmopolitan became more popular. Soon after it seemed to become the drink of choice in New York City when the four women portrayed on the HBO Series "Sex and The City" particularly Carrie Bradshaw, portrayed by Sarah Jessica Parker ordered this drink when all the girls went out. In the first "Sex And The City" movie, once the series had come to an end, Carrie's friend Miranda inquires why they had stopped drinking The Cosmopolitan and Carrie's answer was "because everyone else started."

A Portland microdistillery New Deal named a drink after Ziggy Stardust, a character made popular in song by singer David Bowie. The Ziggy Stardust is a mix of five parts chocolate liqueur and one-part bourbon stirred together and served on the rocks garnished with an orange wedge.

At the popular restaurant, The Violet Hour in Chicago, Illinois, Stephen Cole created a drink to honor French poet Arthur Rimbaud. Rimbaud was shot in the hand by his lover, Paul Verlaine, so the drink is called Rimbaud's Left Hand. It is a mix of Pernod absinthe, Benedictine, Aperol orange liqueur, lemon juice, pineapple juice, egg white and rose water.

Beau Brummel was an important figure in Regency England and for many years the arbiter of men's fashions. The Beau Brummel is a combination of bourbon, Prunella, a plum-flavored liqueur, orange juice, and sugar. The drink is shaken with ice and served in a cocktail glass.

Eliot Spitzer was a former New York Governor and even though he left his position in disgrace he did have a drink named after him at the Hill Country Barbecue Market restaurant in New York City. The Eliot Spitzer is a mix of Nit's pinot grigio, Chambord, Serrano pepper, soda water, and a twist of lime.

The popular cocktail named Margarita was named after Margarita Henkel, who was the daughter of a German ambassador. She was visiting Ensenada when the bartender at the Hussong Cantina came up with a drink to honor her. This is but one claim for the invention of the Margarita. It is a combination of tequila, triple sec, lime juice, and served in a cocktail glass with salt around the rim.

The Cointreau Teese is an interesting violet-colored cocktail. It is the creation of Dita Von Teese known as the "Queen of Burlesque." The drink is a mix of Cointreau orange liqueur, apple juice, Monin violet syrup and lemon juice, It is served in a chilled cocktail glass with a small purple flower as a garnish on the rim.

The Gibson is a popular cocktail that is made with gin or vodka, dry vermouth, and served in a cocktail glass garnished with a cocktail onion. There are many claims to its creation. One thing not to ever forget - The Gibson should be stirred not shaken.

The Rob Roy Cocktail was created by a bartender at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City in 1894 for the premiere of the movie "Rob Roy" The drink was given this name to honor the Scottish folk hero Robert Roy MacGregor who went mostly by the name Rob Roy. The drink can be served straight up or on the rocks.

The Bellini Cocktail was created by Giuseppe Cipriani, who founded Henry's Bar in Venicc, Italy. When he came up with this drink the yellowish pink color made him think of a painting by Giovanni Bellini, an Italian Renaissance painter. so the drink became The Bellini. The drink is made with Prosecco, an Italian white wine and peach puree.
