Mix and Shake it!

By Seashell Harpspring Published 4 months ago 4 min read

Yay to when you turn 21 (In the United States) as now is finally the time to whip out ID and order your first drink! Here is 21 Pages dedicated to the mixology bar craft:

1) French 75

Also sometimes called a Diamond cocktail, the French 75 is a great drink combining gin and champagne or prosecco. I like to add olives to this, similar to a martini. I specifically have recently got my mitts on a lemon pitted olive that is so enjoyable for a citrus twist on the salty olive snack! Just ordering the drink feels like a fancy endeavor!

2) Martini

Grab more olives! This time the gin will have vermouth. There is the classic with regular olives and a cucumber and pickle version. The lemon version is another great, too!

3) Bellini

Just peachy to add some fruit flavor to the wonderful bubbly taste of champagne! Different variations include orange for a mimosa, pearsecco, and grapefruit for Paloma.

4) Sake

A great addition to any martini, bellini, mimosa, or mojito. A Japanese delight that will have you wishing on cherry blossom trees.

5) Manhattan

More vermouth, but this time with Canadian whiskey and maraschino cherries. The drink of New York city to sip and take a subway to an art museum.

6) Old Fashioned

Jack and coke is such a staple of a drink! The old fashioned version with orange and cherry will have you wanting a cigar. At that, might as well have a smoked old fashioned.

7) White Russian

Creamy with vodka white Russian also has it's darker twin the Black Russian. I added another hot coffee drink to these called the Café Royale for a hot coffee option that has brandy as the liquor instead of vodka.

8) Metropolitan

Vodka with cranberry and lime is another delicious city drink like Manhattan, but with a vodka base and the red is cranberry. I also added Moscow Mule to this page relation to the Russian moment from earlier and to give another option with ginger beer instead of cranberry with vodka.

9) Hot Chocolate Stinger

Hot sake, hot coffee liquors, and now hot chocolate! I made a page with a cookies and cream version because of love for the flavor. The page suggests making a peppermint schnapps one. I then added a spicy kick with the Hot Jamaican to the page and a Hot Marie for those who maybe want to add chocolate to this version and make a mocha alcohol drink.

10) Rum

Coconut Groove to a sea shanty with rum as the pirate liquor. Best with coconut flavor or pineapple too. I have a coconut wine labeled here I like to add to rum. There are other great flavors with lemon and ginger ale.

11) Sangria

Made with either dry red or white wine, sangria makes you want to sing Spanish tunes on a balcony. Definitely eat guacamole with this one!

12) Margherita

Yum Tequila! Got to put down Margaritas for sure! May think it is just lemon lime juice, but a good marg is hard to come by. I once went to a place that had other variations like a jalapeno and a blood orange mixture, so delicious!

13) Tequila Ghost

Spice things up with a minty tequila drink named after ghosts, which inspired me to make an entire afterlife page on here with Tequila Mockingbird, Corpse Reviver, and Death in the Afternoon. I love both Absinthe and Champagne, but mixing them together does sound like it might live up to its death name. Me and my spouse have a ghost pepper tequila on our bar cart, so thought it might be a tequila drink with this but it is actually a crème de menthe version.

14) Absinthe

Green fairy liquor. apparently can cause hallucinations, hmmm? What I wanted to portray here was waving a cigar like in spellbinding swoops because of thinking you've grown fairy wings and the cigar or cigarillo is a wand.

15) Sazerac

Another drink with absinthe, but apparently the first of this drink was made with cognac instead with rye whiskey added. Here the quote on the right says "Absinthe makes the heart grow fonder." This drink was called an elixir so that is the reason for the potion bottle images.

16) Mint Julip

More Cognac, or brandy with a mint twist. specifically crafted for betting on horse races in Kentucky. The drink of the derby.

17) Mead

From the top of the fortress, sipping on mead. The honey wine delight that comes from the time period when people couldn't access fresh milk, so they drank almond milk. Mead makes you want to crack out some chainmail.

18) Ale

A traditionally masculine drink, but of course there is a mix with a girly champagne element called the Black Velvet, or there is a cider added version for the Black Velveteen.

19) Spiced Wines

The hot masculine version of wine on the left is mulled wine made with cloves, cinnamon and orange juice. The version on the page shows brown sugar, but I usually use honey for this. I put another clove drink usage with the Riki Tiki Toddy underneath. On the right is the cold feminine version with pine and orange elements. Lily with Lillet where gin can be added.

20) Bella, Bella

Had to add this Italian version of a French 75 with lemoncello as the lemon addition with oranges and Mandarin liquor and compari instead of champagne.

21) Mandarin Diamond

Last, I was inspired and made my own cocktail called the Mandarin diamond. I added some mandarin recipes on the left, paying homage to a few more obscure alcohols like sherry, cachaça, and Mandarin Napoleon. My mix is Sparkling rose, Tang juice (orange juice), Mandarins, rose water, and gin. Studying all these combinations made for creating a perfect drink mix I can enjoy, happy sipping!
