Self-love decried.
In fear they lied.
Few pacified.

Whisperings snide.
Frequently sighed.
In closets cried.
Precious souls died.
___
Then there was Pride!
Truth testified.
Love magnified.
Dumb nullified.
___
Tears can be dried.
Eyes open wide.
Nothing to hide.
Feelings outside.
___
With friends allied.
Revelers spied.
Ready to ride.
Til bleary-eyed.
___
Homophobes chide.
Haters deride.
Zealots blindside.
Leave them tongue-tied.
