Sweet for Me ...

A First Date Triptych: Part Two

By Savannah K. WilsonPublished 2 years ago • 1 min read
a new day begins ... is a new life beginning?

Awake and finding you not next to me!

Moment to realise where I am and you're not there

Finding myself upset and confused

My soft-sighed morning groan catches your ear

Up early ... Didn't want to disturb dreaming

Gurgled siren moans bring you back to me

'I'm here sweet pea' your kind voice calms

Returning beside me, wrapping and holding tight

As you did last night after roses and talking

When I drifted to sleep in your arms, smiling

Wanting to start our day together ...

Yet never wanting to leave your embrace

...

Soon we're away!

Driving with you, as passenger with no control

I feel safe, never once reaching for imaginary brakes

My eyes don't see the road, they only see you

...

You take me shopping, tell me I look pretty

Are people looking? Don't care!

All I wanted was to hold your hand

But I feared making the first move of cheesy PDA

...

Seeing my childlike delight at something sweet

A simple cupcake decorated for fun

I giggled and you bought us both treats

I never knew I could smile this much

As our day was just starting, so much to come

But this moment, I will never forget

Eating a cupcake ... with you
